Those with Fabspeed bypass pipes

I noticed several members have installed them recently and seemed very happy with them.

I listened to the videos many times and loved the sound of the bypass pipes, but in the end, I went with the Fabspeed exhaust. I like it, but in the car with the windows closed I can't hear it as much as I would like. With the windows down, or in a tunnel I get to enjoy it.

I don't think I would have any trouble with the law re noise, but I don't want an exhaust that wakes up the whole neighborhood.

Does anyone know how much louder the bypass is than their exhaust?

Just for reference I'm a 26 year old male. If some of you older folks are putting them on and living with it my guess is that I should be able to no problem.

So what's the verdict? Should I get them? Anyone selling them used? Anyone have a set installed in the CT/NY area that I could listen to?

Thanks guys!

The pipes are quiet at idle but after that you can forget about it. Yes the pipes will wake up neighbors but if you cruise into your driveway you shouldn't have a problem. Here is the link to Fabspeed to have a listen to the Stock, Fabspeed, and the Bypass pipes. And the Bypass pipes, bypass the mufflers and are stright pipes from the cats.

It is loud, but I don't think it's "too" loud. As far as my neighbors are concerned, I don't think at idle it's enough to awaken them. And I keep it under the speedlimit in my neighborhood. I play nice in my own sandbox, if you know what I mean.

It's aggressive, loud...but it sounds awesome. I recommend giving it a shot. It is so reasonably priced that you can't go wrong. Try it for a month, and if you don't like it, take it off and sell it. I had quite a few folks here on the board ready to buy mine if I found it to be too much. They are out of luck with me.

I just drove to LA and back (700 miles round trip), found it quite easy to deal with.

I guess though, you can put me in that "older folks" category. OUCH!!! That's a first for me.

Robyn, I'd have to say that your car sounded awesome when I heard it at last week's LA Meet. Everyone turned their head to look and see who's car sounded so mean when you pulled in.

Do you know if you will have any problems with CA Smog tests at all? I supposed you can always just put the stock mufflers back on, but I was curious if it would pass with the bypass pipes.

Thanks,
Steve

As Kirby quote above...no problem with smog. I've not bypassed the cats...so all should be well. Of course, I have this habit of getting rid of cars before I have to actually smog them, I haven't smogged a car in 12 years! I do intend on keeping this one, that is if Kirby doesn't talk me into buying a Turbo, so we'll see!

LOUD...SCREAMIN LOUD......best describes it. i live in LA and my Friend in NY heard me driving home. if you want i can rev my car at 8:00 PM eastern time so you can hear it over there. but on the real, i removed mine it's just too loud. i like the throaty sound that fabspeed produces. i wouldn't change. have your friend drive your car down the street while you stand on the curb, this way you can a good feeling of how your car sounds as it echoes down the street. btw i'm 26 at heart and i couldn't handle it.

Jenner, after hearing Robyn's exhaust last weekend.... I have to say I LIKE THEM! But I live to close to the local Sheriff's station and my neighbors are already somewhat annoyed with my current Fabspeed exahust. Like 996Garage just stated, when Robyn pulled into Lucent, we all turned to see who just arrived. It sounded soundes awesome! But it was LOUD.... in a great way.

Hi all,

New owner of a 996 Cab.

Got the original Porsche sports exhaust installed whith that bypass button inside the car so I can control it.

Think it sounds awesome. But how is that sound compared to the Fabspeed ??
