Wheel Bolt Experts Wanted
Wheel Bolt Experts Wanted
New HRE wheels went on the C4s over Thanksgiving, you can see pics here: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ad.php?t=66406
This has exposed one of the few ugly parts on the car, the lug bolts. OEM bolts are crappy looking now that they are exposed. No problem we figure, there has to be a plethora of lug bolt options out there for the 996, right? Not that I can find, and I consider myself pretty good at finding parts.
So, it anyone knows where to find black lug bolts, please let me know. At this point, I thinking one of my few options is get a set of OEM bolts and have them powder coated. Or, concede to chrome bolts, which I don't like on this particular wheel.

Here are black caps, from a forum sponsor. http://www.wheelenhancement.com/inde...t=AccLugsLocks
^Thanks, I did find those. Word from dad & Alex@sharkwerks was "no."
If someone has experiance with them though, let me know. How well do they stay on? Other bummer part is they will not fit over the OEM locking bolt.

There aren't any good options for black bolts. The covers work but they do not cover the aluminun collar that is on the bottom of the bolt. You could take them off and wire brush the bolt and paint them black. I would not recommend powdercoating as the coating is quite thick and you would very likely need to force the socket on and damage the coating.
I was told to paint them.....I went to Wheel Enhancement and asked about them...they said they dont have them...and most people simply spray paint them.....

i have a similar dilemma, but I have iForged wheels. The bolts stick out more than on the OEM wheels, and the bolt holes on the wheels are really small compared to the OEM ones, I had a hard time finding a thin wall socket & I cannt find lug bolts that are short enough so they dont stick out too much. Also the wheel locks from Porsche dont work cuz the key for them is too thick to fit in the holes.

My bolts began to show their age with a little rust - dealer talked me out of replacement bolts - suggested I just spray them with Silver Rust Paint. I did that a couple years ago and they still look great. Substitute the silver for gloss or matte finish black rust paint to achieve your objective. Worst case, you can always repaint them back to silver again!
