PSS9 Installed

Even though the group buy (on rennlist) was a not successful Gert was still good enough to help me out with a good priced PSS9 kit. The kit arrived last Wednesday and I had it installed today.

First impressions are as follows:
  • The ride is quite firm but not harsh
  • There is an extreme reduction in body roll around corners
  • Body feels considerably stiffer. Even though I drive a cab there are no extra squeaks from the stiffer setup. If anything the car has less squeaks now
  • You "feel" the road more now. Hard to put words to this but I know you understand what I mean.
  • Cornering is more precise. Point and shoot and it goes where you want it to go
  • Less body lean under braking and hard acceleration. The car seems more planted and solid under these conditions

These impressions were based from a wopping 30km drive. I am sure I will have more to say once I have more drive time. The car was set up with the following settings:
  • Camber: -1.0 Front and -1.4 Rear
  • Toe: Standard RoW 030
  • Lowering: Car is lowered to 25.5" all the way around
  • PSS9 Settings: 3 Front and 4 Rear
At the moment it will do. I am not sure if I will keep it this way. More kms under the belt will determine that.

I have attached some photos - but don't expect the quality of Britt's work

Looks great. I would go a bit lower, maybe a 1/2 inch or so but it is such a major improvement don't you think? Congrats and keep the pictures coming.

I must admit, when I handed the car over yesterday I was tempted to get the thing lowered by 30mm all around but was not sure how it will take the speed humps and sloping drive ways. I returned later in the afternoon when they had just finished installing the pss9 but had not adjusted the height overall. The front was down by 30mm and it looked wild! I was very tempted to say leave it !

I figure if I want to go lower I can. I think I will once I let it settle down too. I am hoping that the car drops by another 5mm naturally over time if not I will do it 25.25" all around should be ok, but it is amazing what +/- 5mm does to the overall image and handling of the car.

aurthurk do you mind telling me what the good price was? I was interested in that deal but failed to act as there didn't seem to be enough interest. Have seen them on e-Bay starting at $2K though. Thanks

ArthurK congrats on the PSS-9s! I agree with your impressions. The overall handling dynamic is vastly improved. They definately put more bite into every turn. Speed bumps will have to be addressed with more caution but I have had no problems what so ever with the daily drivability of the car. I have a coupe and have my PSS-9's set at 2 both front and rear. I am taking mine in next week and lowering it to 25" but will add an engine protection plate. My driveway has a rather steep curb and if I do not side step my way out I will bottom out.

I had a longer drive today and it is amazing how much more tuned in to the road and car you are with the PSS9s.

My main concern is drive ways and scrapping the front nose, worse yet destroying the read exhaust tips whilst reversing out of a driveway. At a particular client regardless of what I do I scrape the tips getting in and out. One day I think I am going to leave them behind

At 25" all around the car looks wild Greyghost's is a testament to that! The most I would contemplating going to is 25.25" 6mm can make a huge difference.

I agree. Drive it around for awhile and if you later decide to try 25.25 go for it try. My car did not settle at all after the PSS-9's were installed. With my driveway curb I just take it slowly with a bit of a crocodile walk.

DavidS,

How do you find the stiffer ride on the engine? Is it a concern at all now having the stiffer rider as to what it might be doing to the engine or dont you believe it will impact on it at all?

Just a thought I had after reading something Loren was talking about.

Thanks ItzKirb, I have you to blame partly for my mod craze I am going through. Hoping to get the CII skirts on next Monday and eventually the CII nose. But your garage door retro fit was the BEST!

Pieball,

I paid around the $2200 mark from memory. If you are interested, on rennlist we might be trying to ressurect the Group Buy for them. Need 10 people 3 might be interested already. The price back then was pretty darn good at under $2000US

ArthurK I honestly don't believe the stiffer ride will have any effect on my engine. The coupe has so little flex that accept the firmer settings. I spoke with someone (via e-mail) who has PSS-9's on his EVOMS supercharged Cab and his are set at 3 and 4 just as yours are. He drives his car aggressively and has had no problems.

Fantastic I spoke to the same person His advice is what determined my final setup bar the height. I drive the car aggresively but nowhere near as hard as some members do. I still have my original Rossos on the car with decent tread life still.

Also the ride is not that hard anyway. As I said I have not had any squeaks through the car that I didnt have in the past if anything there are less.
