Front blinker dead. New headlight assembly?

Had this problem 2x with my '02 C4S. Apparently it's fairly common. I did the following and it resolved the problem.
Remove headlight assembly, remove the turn signal bulb holder/socket thingy (sorry for the lack of technical terms).
Locate the contacts in the opening where the socket thingy goes. Carefully bend these contacts so they stick out a bit further.
Reassemble.
That worked for me.
