I have those exact sizes and offsets (997 "S" wheels) with 245/35s and 315/25s with H&R lowering springs (1.25") and absolutely no rubbing although I avoid lock to lock (also due to the cup car brake ducts). Thanks for the tip on the 15mm spacers as I have read this helps to start (along with an aggressive alignment) fighting the factory understeer. Of course there is a LOT more one can do for that.
Thanks for the reply SMS, however, you have an 02 and I have a 99. I am told that there are slight differences that might be a problem for me. I just thought that since Newport has a 99, I'd see what he is running.
On another note, SMS, how is cornering in your car compared to before you switched?
Thanks

I am no expert, but for body, offset, brakes, etc. there should be no difference. Anyway, I am yet to get the car on the track as here in the east it is not like my SoCal roots.....tracks re-open in March. I had the car track aligned when I installed the wheels and the turn-in is TOTALLY superior.... i.e. when you turn it turns! This would be primarily due to the alignment settings (toe-in, camber). As for road driving, what can I say, it was on rails before and it still is but now with a bit more contact patch in the rear (285 to 315). Unfortunately this increases understeer which is why I am interested in putting spacers on the front as suggested. Good luck!
I have 235/35/19 and 285/30/19....SMS...you going with 315/25 in the rear may be a negative in performance...you mention the added understeer and the smaller, stiffer sidewall is a disadvantage for performance as well.....
I wanted to go with 30s in the rear but could not find that size in a reasonably priced tire. This set of 19s is for try out before getting a track set or going with my factory 18s. I evaluated quite a few opinions and a lot of variables before going forward with the tire size issue. The thought process, albeit possibly flawed, was more grip in the rear and I can always tune out the understeer until I find a happy medium that gets the rear around when I need it to on track.
PS: I keep staring at your car.....truly tasteful mods.

When ever you get a chance, could you take a look through the grill to see. You should be able to make out if the rubber fits snug or if the old one is left in place in which case, it will hang down from the top (on the inside).
