Here's what I'm hearing: I have friendly sources, one of whom has been in the car. That person tells me the interior is what we see, and should be what's on the production car. Another tells me the exterior is heavily disguised.

Problem is, the only disguising I can see is the taping of the front signals/fogs, and the taping of the rear tail lights and part of the bumper. The rear deck lid looks TechArt or similar - fewer fins, more air space, and the hump is more bulbous. Otherwise the cab boot cover looks the same, the canvas top looks the same, and the doors/fenders are mirrors of the 996. Just front/rear fascia change.

I'm expecting the front lights to NOT look like what's here - but to be more Carrera GT-ish - stretched ovals.

But again, we were told months ago that this would be a refresh, nothing much more.

I don't dig it. Even if it has 345-350hp, the look I see here would not be enough to get me to buy. But much to be seen in the coming weeks.

Oh yeah, and I can't take credit for the pics. Others posted them earlier today elsewhere, from I believe UK Car Mag or others.

I'm not liking it, but will hold final until I see it in person or in better pictures. I'm not so sure the headlights are a step forward, and interesting, but the door handle looks like it's a 'pull out' instead of 'pull up'

I saw these pix earlier today on another board, an my take is there is a false shell on the front and rear bumpers. Look at the top half of the front bumper--there's the seam in front of the side markers, and one vertically below each headlight. And those chrome headlight rings--I think they borrowed them from a Mini...

A few spy pix a while back made me believe the headlights would be more CGT-ish, but then remember that yellow crash test pic, where they were oval? Porsche must enjoy making everybody guess...

And the rear bumper has tape around the lights, and a tape seam leading from them to the wheel wells.

The mirrors in the top pic are interesting.

Overall, making me still feel good about buying my '04 Carrera last September.

I want to like it and have planned on buying a 997.

Hopefully Eric is correct in his assesment of the exterior being heavily disguised because it just doesn't spin my motor. The front does not appear to flow while the rear stikes me as swollen and somewhat bulbous. Hopefully the finished and final product will come together. otherwise I will be looking for a low mileage 996TT until the 998 arrives.

if i wasn't getting a CGT, i'd probably get one. the interior looks nice. however, if the power merely offsets the add'l weight, it's another sad step in the wrong direction. the car (apparently heavily disquised) doesn't look that diff from a 996 (personally i like the 996), but it does have a little 993 heritage up front (nice touch - never should have lost those lights in the first place) and wider rears (on 911s that is) can never be wide enough.

I was thinking the same thing about the Cayenne-ish interior. The verdict is still out.

The front end does not look proportional to the rear end. Although, the interior has been fully re-designed, and looks nice.
