You might be expecting too much if you think you'll notice a power difference from a $200.00 piece of plastic. You'll probably get more air in which will make it sound better, but that's about it. Noise does not equal power. Porsche didn't leave a lot of horsepower on the table for tuners to work with.
The NA cars are very hard to make big power with unless you throw big money at them. If you want "mucho power" get a supercharger kit. However, my understanding is the SC kits are not smog certified in Cali.

Lower that puppy, throw some rims on it, get a short shifter, throw in some nice sounds, (Newport and Flojo both have great systems) and join us for the March 10th brunch. Otherwise get a turbo and then do the same things.

One time is right, although I disagree with not doing the performance mods. There isnt much you can do with the NA's but I think the basic bolt ons can add a little more punch, responsiveness and the "sound" that just makes your car feel faster.

I personally have the fabspeed headers, K&N intake, Agency Power Exhaust, and might do the upsolute chip to top it off. The sound of the intake alone was worth the invenstment.

I got my headers here used for like $750, the intake is like $300, the Exhaust is $700 and the upsolute chip is another $700. My total investment is like $2600 installed and I am hoping it should add about a 25-30hp bump at the wheels. Once its all installed and I get the car out of the body shop I will throw it on a dyno and see.

I did an extensive search but I couldnt find a dyno on a 3.6 with intake, headers, exhaust and chip??? Anyone have one??? DAN????

For me I just like to mod, so doing it is most of the fun, and I think even and 15-20 hp bump at the wheels would be worth the $2600, plus the agressive new sound.

Yes Hyper2,
You are expecting WAY too much from engine mods with 996's....If you spend 3-5k, you MIGHT get 20hp....so a $200 intake will either get you nothing, or LOSE you power...Porsche has done a very good job of getting most of the power out of this engine....The K&N says you will get 15hp, but there are issues with rain, CEL (check engine lights) fould MAF and o2 sensors...so for the possibility of all that which can cost you $$$$ to fix...why risk it when the power increase is not even proven....Enjoy your car as is, do suspension and exterior mods, THEN if you want a HP increase, look into supercharging or dropping in a 3.8L with the X51 package....both may be like 10k....but get you in the 400hp ball park....

If you like to mod, great....but you will not see more than 15 at the wheels....some have not seen that much at all....in some cases you lose low end torque for top end HP....so you may see a gain, but only ablive 6k rpm...and a dip below that....keep us posted....you should have done a before dyno run so you can see what the mods actually did....

Wow, I was pretty excited to hear about that 3.8 x51 for 10k, yeah the best price I have seen is about 26k. That would be the best option in my opinion because it would be facotry reliable and have no lag issues like with a supercharger.

I did not get a chance to dyno the car before the mods but I will do the after.

Yeah....The 10k number is for a NORMAL 3.4/3.6 without the X51....
