Interesting clip. While the bike appeared to have decent lines the rider certainly did not use the Gixxer's engine speed to his advantage. While he seemed ok with accelerating down the straights, his engine speed dropped way too low going into and through the turns and he lost ground accelerating back up because he was often in too high a gear.

I dont think he was actually racing the Porsche - probably wanted to film it more than anything else. Clearly, he could have over taken it many times but kept the car in the camera view for as long as possible.

Just thought it would be great to drive on that street!!

Agreed.
I spent the last 5 years racing GSXRs and have to say that this person wasn't even trying. If the bike was actually intending to film the 996 then it wasn't doing a very good job at one point when the car wasn't anywhere to be found. Until the end I could have thought that it was a 600 but then it sounded like a 1000. Poor use of the throttle for sure.

He never got close to redline. A GSX-R 1000 could smoke most cars.

Just curious....I know in acceleration, and braking any sportbike will beat a car...I used to ride a Ninja ZX-6R and I LOVED that thing....but I find that cornering speeds may be higher in a high end sports car like a 996....This is some of what I saw, except he wasnt trying to out accelerate or out brake the 996 until the end....

Make no mistake this was no race, I ride a Gixxer 750 and I would beat up on my Porsche on a track...Granted the car does a better job in the twistys, but the Bike just pulls on the straits, anyways it was still a good vid for those of us that havent been to the ring.

Top Gear took a Yamaha R1 and raced against a C4 and the R1 lost. Both competent drivers/riders.

Used to ride GSXR 600. Have to say driving a sports car is way nicer. Much more relax at the limit~ Maybe I was a chicken lol, could never use the full potential of the bike, so I quited =D

But still, I strongly believe if the bike is in the right hand, it will smoke a GT3 no doubt!
