Key light stuck on???

I have a 2003 Targa. Went to play basketball at the Y today, when I returned to the car the ket light was stuck on and would not open anything. I had to open manually with the key, the alarm starting going off until I put the key in the ignition. The key light is still stuck on.

Does anyone have any suggestions/comments on this -- THANKS!!!

Someone on Rennlist suggested that I re-insert the battery or try a new battery.

Pryed out the old battery,re-inserted it / tried a new one - LIGHT STILL ON. I'll car the dealer in the AM.

I'll keep this post up to date on what I find in case it helps someone else.

I had a similar situation once. Light stayed on until I key-fobbed the locks. Then the key-fob wouldn't unlock the doors. Then the alarm went as did yours. I just replaced my key-fob battery and it never happened again... but I don't understand how that could have solved my or your problem?

It's not the battery but I cant be any more help than that. Had the same problem. Brought it to the dealer and he reset something but I couldn't see what. A week later it happened to the other key! Waiting for spring tune up to reset the other one.

Called the dealer today, they said that it will take about 1-1/2 hours with the car to reset it (if it is a bad key they will have to get another).

If it's a warranty item, don't sweat it. The 1.5 hour figure comes from waiting for the tech to free up to sit in the car with the PST2 - the actual programming takes 10 minutes tops.

Curious as to what this ends up being. My dealer reset the key without the car there.

Yeah, I tried to mail him the key but he said that he must have the car there. He said that it would take 1.5 hours and I could schedule anytime. It is under warranty!!! Keep you posted.
