rear wing

I'm sure a lot of Porsche owners will disagree with me,but I find the ugliest thing one can do to a car is to add a wing. I realize it is required sometimes at high speed but it looks awful. The 911 series of Porsche has such a beautiful timeless shape, any wing just spoils it. I have a 996 Cab with a wing that retracts at low speed, that's the way to go. Most of the time you don't see it. I cringe when I see Porsches with huge after market wings, they look so boy racer. Anyway I had to express my " wing " thoughts. Nothing looks better from behind than a wingless 911.

Most porsche owners are using factory wings....There are very few aftermarket wings on the market....The most popular are the Aero I and II which are the same as the GT3 mk I and mk II...I agree with you on the cab...I have not found a wing that I LOVE on a cab....I like alot of them, but the ones I really like, wont work on a cab....By the way, some will say that the 996 cab does not follow the true 911 lines.

Cruiser - I am not a wing fan either but the techart type 2 for a 997 is hot. That's the only wing I would do.

I agree the coupe has the true Porsche look. It is just that this cab that I bought came on the market with brand new tires and completely checked by a Porsche dealer including a 3 year extended warranty, I could not resist. But I would have prefered a coupe.

Looks are one thing but don't forget, Porsche does not throw a wing on a car for looks. It is all about high speed stability and performance at the limit.

Personally, the GT3 and GT3RS wings are not only functionally important but I think look great.

I don't recall the last time I saw one WITHOUT a wing, they look like they are being driven by grannies without them.

:-)

I'm a fan of wings.. it completes the look and functionality of the car. Porsche were build from a racing pedigree. Thus certain form and functionality goes with that pedigree. Granted not all aftermarket wings are functional nor eye pleasing. But there are some well tested wings out there.
just my 2 cents.

Totally agree. I barely notice one without a wing, they look so stock and plain. I think Porsche did good with the wing designs they came out with...

I love Porsche's wings. I have two GT2 ones on my '86 Corolla - one on the roof and one on the trunk.

I always wanted a wing but didn't know which one... then you go on a couple runs with 10-20 pcars... and different ones start to grow on you... hence, the reason I went with the misha wing...

Its OK you don't like wings on the 911......I do like wings and think the 996 looks way better with one, but hey different folks different strokes
