Quick oil filter question.

Quick question, I took the 911 in today for service, pretty much just a quick look over and oil change. I paid to have the filter changed as well.

So I get the car home and start installing the fabspeed copys that I made so that can have my cans sent out for the PSE treatment and low and behold it looks like they did not change the filter.

now the question is? Is the black filter that I see under the car the filter itself of is it a cover or holder for a internal filter, because the cover looks to be as old as the car.

And I fired the car up without the exhaust and pipes and man is it loud, does the fabspeed cutouts help keep the sound down from straight open pipes out the cats or am I going to have to keep the car in the garage until my stockers come back.

thats just a oil filter cover you see under there, itll be very hard to tell if they changed the filter element (inside the cover) or not.
Whats a fabspeed cutout!

You will need a tool to remove the oil filter cover. Oil change on the 911T is pretty easy and don't know why the dealer charges an arm and leg. Perhaps you order the tool and examine for yourself.

Here are some instructions that may help you understand.

I can do the oil change myself very easily, but it is a pain to dispose of the oil out her in california.

Fabspeed cutout should be fabspeed bypass.

I got the PSE style hacked mufflers back on to the car and they sound ok, a little to quiet for me down low in the rpm range and a little harsh at the top.

So I decided to do the orange cap mod, though I did it with a bit of turned plastic that lets you keep the completely stock look, remove the resonater in the airbox, and keeps the rubber seal from the resonater in place to keep air from creaping into the box after the MAF. Plus it has a lip that fits in the airbox so that there is no chance that it is ever going to end up in the motor.

Now it sounds really nice, like it should have from the factory, best way to describe it is that its the stock sound profile that is louder, and a lot less harsh then the aftermarket stuff that I have heard.

So all in all a productive day, now I just have to do a quick detail, check the tire pressures and find that small leak if it exists with the flor dye and the car will be perfect.

WTF is the "orange cap mod?" what does it do? increase airflow?

It just blocks off the resonater tube in the intake, makes the car sound like it has a intake on it. It basically like the older style fabspeed intake but it only cost nothing, also the car still looks bone stock so if you get pulled over here in california you don't have to go through the whole CARB # nonsense.

Same with the PSE tube addition, nobody can see it from the outside, the car looks bone stock if ou stick your head under the car and it only costs ~100$ and a little bit O your time.

What are you talking about? Just take it down to AutoZone and they'll take it right from there.... EASY.
