Online Parts Ordering
Does anyone recommend an online parts vendor. I havent searched too hard, but found a few. Specifically, I need brake pads and sensors. Pelicanparts.com has them listed fairly inexpensively. Do I need to watch out for any brands or online dealers?

Well,
I won't spend too much time but if there is a problem "good-luck". It is my understanding that they have now hired a new C/S manager who isn't a car person "at all" and this person has hired two new C/S people who are neither car people nor would have enough time in their seats to keep them warm.
If you run into problems ask for Dennis, he's the big guy, but more than likely won't be able to assist you either. Oh-yah, he's not a car guy either..... Place has gone down-hill on the Customer Support side.... I'll give you a dollar if you can get him on the phone, if you do ask him what's the difference between a 986 and a 996, if he gives you the correct answer I'll give you $5 if he can tell you the difference from the 993 and the 997 I'll make it $10......

Are these problems at Suncoast, or Pelican parts from the Original post?

Hey, what timing! I just bought brake pads and sensors from http://www.sunsetimports.com/. Like suncoast, they are a true Porsche dealership (unlike pelicanparts). The prices were very good and they were extremely knowledgeable. Make sure you consider getting the vibration dampers, and pad retainer installation kit too. The vibration dampers reduce noise and the pad retainer installation kit gives you new spring clips. Are they absolutely necessary? Even Sunset said no, but they are recommended. I figured if I have everything taken apart anyway, might as well do it all at once.

Best thing is to swap out the retaining kits, sensors and silencers....

So what should I expect to pay for front and rear pads, sensors, dampers and retaining kits?
Local dealer just quoted me $380 for labor alone not including the markup'd parts...what a rip.

If you could I would encourage you to save your $$$$$ on the labor and do it yourself. If you don't have the skills, that's what you're paying someone else for.... skills...... "Everyone's got to eat"
Labor + Overhead (includes shop rent, tools, electrical, phone, insurance) and the list goes on.....

Eli...Totaly agree with you...I just thought that $800 was a hefty amount for a simple break job when I could do it myself in probably the same amount of time.

You know me, new shoes every 6-months or less....Still have my last set of HRE's just sitting there collecting dust...
I think I'll swap out these with in the next couple of months.. I'm having a set of SRT-10 wheels done for my truck right now... One set at a time...
