What will $40K buy these days?

I seriously miss having a Porsche these Spring days. Although my 1996 993 C4S is gone, I am ready to move into something a little newer and more comfortable. The 996 should fill that need nicely.

With my requirements of a light colored 2002+ 6-speed coupe that is accident/paint-free, low-mileage (Under 30-35K miles), and is in excellent condition, what options would you recommend should be on my "radar" for a $40K budget?

Thanks!

You should be able to pick up an 02-03 996 with under 40k on it.

I've seen some (several even advertised here) for close to $40K. That number is a goal...the right car could squeeze a little more out of me!

I think you should expect to pay 45-50K with the requirements you have in mind. Sometimes it's just best to pay a little more to be happy with your purchase.... or you can wait an other 6-months or so and you should see something pop up by then.... If you're not in a hurry then make it work for you....

Thank you for the replies. I'm more of a "purist" fan (my C4S was stock) and I'm a big fan of original cars being sold by their original owners.

There are several cars out there that are piquing my interest and are close to my budget limit.

Right now my daily driver is a fully loaded (package C with Nav, etc.) 2006 Infiniti G35 sedan with 8,500 miles. The car is quick, comfortable, flawless...and somewhat soulless.

MAYBE someone already bought your car.....

"PURIST" = "off the lot" no middle man unless you want it broken in or at a discount....
