Since nearly everyone who mods their car will likely change their exhaust system, I propose we start an “Exhaust System Sound Bite Registry” and make it a sticky. There should be a separate thread for each exhaust; Tubi, AWE, PSE, FabSpeed, Car Graphic, et al., and members could post their video clip or sound bite on the appropriate threads. I think this would prove an invaluable resource to those of us searching for the right sound. Exhaust systems can end up an expensive disappointment that will eat away at you every time you drive your car if you don’t like your exhaust. Trust me I know… My Z-Tek cans sound like ***. It would be cool if my exhaust set up would be the only mod I only do twice

 

Great idea! I have fabspeed mufflers, plenum, and v-flow intake on the way. After I put them on I'll post up.

agreed, other car forums have this and it is a huge help, i see it being no different here. perhaps even moreso since exhaust for these cars is a larger investment than for most other cars, so there is even more to lose if a person buys an exhaust that they are not happy with.

 

Thanks Raffi!! That's a start. It would be cool if we could get a least one good clip of each brand up here. I know it's a pain in the butt fellas.... Actually, it would be great if each manufacturer’s reps would do it. It would be a great marketing tool; to utilize such a captive audience these boards provide. You want to sell exhaust systems for 996s? Put up a thread with good quality video clips of the top brands – at idle, revving, inside the car accelerating hard, and a full throttle drive by - and offer a discount to board members. You’d be Da-Man in the exhaust department. Right now, if you search, you’ll find a paucity of sound clips - none I could find to compare equally on a 996, and secondly, among members, there is disparity in their indications: Tubi is louder - AWE is louder, AWE for Porsche - Tubi for Ferrari, PSE is too heavy and not loud enough, is a Tubi worth $1000 more than the others? I mean, come on, that's a big decision that you have listen to every day. You'd think living in South Florida during the 21st Century I'd be able to listen to various exhausts on my model P car. – Champion is in my backyard! If I'm having that kind of trouble here, I can only imagine what it's like living in places less densely populated. I think a well organized thread dedicated to P car sounds would be hit. It would be a virtual exhaust system shoot out where the consumer picks their own winner. Someone might as well profit from it too.

 

get in contact with one of the mods and ask them to make a sticky or something. this could turn out to be very worthwhile.
