So Notes on the Plenum install.

I put mine on Monday. It took longer than it should have because I had to cut 1/4 in off the throttle body bolts. Then I lost one in the belly of the beast. I also lost the clip that holds the side pipe on the plenum. I used a SS hose clamp for that but had to go to Home Depot to get a new bolt. I found that getting the plenum on the intake hoses was not all that hard. I just reached inside the plenum and worked the hoses into position. Mine is a 99 cable throttle (not e-gas). It seemed to pull better in third at high RPMS but the cool sound from my orange plug was different. More of a shrill sound. It has been raining here so I really have not been able to give it a full workout.
I did three pre plenum runs with the Auto Enginuity Spped Tracer Dyno in second gear. All three runs showed a peak of 100hp at 7200 rpm? This is the first time I ever tried this program so I don't really know if I set it up right. I did the runs on a industrial road near my house and decided I better split before the cops came!

Glad to hear it went well, cept for the disapearing bolt. I'll be doing mine in a few days. Give it some mileage to adjust.

Well I finally did mine last weekend on a 100% stock 1999 996. I will say that I am impressed with the way the car feels. I can feel the increase in throttle response and what seems like just a little more power. It even sounds slightly different - throatier. Car runs more like what I expect from a Porsche. The stock plenum looks like junk compared to the RSS unit. I was a sceptic about this at first....but on a stock 99 w/o all the other goodies...it is a better car.

no issues at all once the correct bolts were sent to me - the only difficult part of the install was getting each boot to attach. Patience paid off here.

I found it easy to install the boots by reaching inside the plenum with my hand and work the boots on with my fingers. Didn't seem obvious but made that part easy!

Can anyone tell me where to get these shorter bolts? Do they come with the plenum?

I didn't need shorter bolts, but did have a problem with threads in the body which I fixed myself... But definate to do mod just for the smooth power delivery... Totally different car....

sorry for the ignorance, but does it work with the k&n intake, and if it does, is it more difficult?

Well I'm finally having the plenum installed next Monday along with AP mufflers and Schnell dual tips. I think, besides a SC, I'm done with engine mods. SSK, EVO air, Upsolute flash, RSS plenum and AP mufflers. Cant wait to hear the AP's!

I have the K&N, works just fine with it, give the car a couple of miles like say 200 to get used to the free flow.
