Radar Detector Dilemma

Alright guys, I can't decide on this and want to get your opinion:

I have a busted regular (non x-50) escort passport 8500. I can either:

1.) Send it in to get it fixed ($80)
2.) Get $80 off the purchase of an X-50. (Comes out to about $220)
2.) Get an almost new v1 unit for $300

I know a few hundred bux is probably pocket change for most of you, but I'd hate to throw away my trusty 8500 I've owned forever only to get an incrementally better v1.

Appreciate your thoughts.

Get a V1, they constantly upgrade their units and all you have to pay is the shipping to get your unit upgraded.

see if you can get a discount on the new Escort 9500i!!

I have an 8500 too....and it works just fine. No problems. If I had to I would upgrade to the 9500i.

People here are die hard V1 fans...but I am partial to my Escort.

but since the 8500 has been replaced, I wouldnt buy "old" technology. See if Escort will hook up a discount on the 9500i. That is what I would do.

I had the 8500 and consider my V1 an upgrade in every sense of the word.

Here and on every enthusiast forum site there is (ferrarichat, nsxprime, etc)... V1 has come out on top in real world use vs the Escort... Enough said.

Thumbs up

K40 built into my 996 has saved me many times. Now they have a portable one that works well too. It's in my minivan.

+1 for the V1. Once you know how to interpret the arrows in combination with the signal strength meter, you will never go back again.
