Whats the matter with you guys that you have to remove the clutch helper spring? Can you ***** drivers not drive a manual car? Or do you think that the Porsche design engineers are a load of crap? You shouldn't be behind the wheel of a Porsche if you do. The spring is there for a reason as I said months ago when I first read of this ridiculous mod/hack. ie CRUISE CONTROL operation.

The logic of this is . So if you read what I initially said, I'll go ahead rephrase it for you, MY spring snapped while I was driving and has become overly stiff to the point where I can't feel my clutch engaging or disengaging. Due to this, not because of your statement of being a "***** driver", I have replaced my spring. Of course the clutch helper spring was to hit a larger market of drivers who don't prefer to drive a stick.... ***** drivers I guess as you would say.

I didn't specifically target you Targa996 but if the 'cap fits, wear it".

Why the pedal pressure changed when spring broke

Attached helps illustrate how the Clutch Boost Spring effects the force required to actuate the clutch pedal. A broken spring would act like a very light or missing boost spring.

Porsche selects from several different springs depending on the vehicle's configurations. For example, a heaver boost spring in a Turbo because of its heavy duty clutch. I know of 3 different color-coded OEM springs; purple, white, orange.

Drive some more cars. I got used to my clutch pedal feel for the most part. That being said, I have been away from the car for a while and been driving a 996 Cab with some clutch work done to it. It's leaps and bounds better than the stock 996TT setup in both feel and action. When I got back in a Turbo, the clutch effort felt comically light and the bite point is vague and seemingly in a narrower window. It's all what you get used to, but the clutch pedal experience in the 996TT could be better.
