Just wondering how many miles do you usually change your oil at? I am use to changing my oil out every 3k miles on my M3 but now that I have a 996, I heard that you do not need to change oil until 15k miles. Is that true?

 

7500-10k or every year.

If I didn't sit in traffic every so often 15k is ok.

Just remember to use the recommended oil Mobile 1 with the correct weight. It's used by more than the engine for lubrication.

 

Once a year, less than 5k/year on the car, remember

I must be crazy - I change my Mobil 1 every $3500 miles, or basically twice a year. I never put my Porsche away for the winter with old oil in her. Mobil one won't break down but will accumulate contaminants that get past your air filter and from combustion. On my DD, I change every 7500.

I guess its probably time to change my oil since it has been 5k miles since I bought my 996 two months ago!

15K miles if I dont forget. 96K miles running strong. Im gonna start doing it ever 10K. Mileage is getting up there.

I used to every 5k then I noticed that the oil wasnt bad at all, so next time Ill do at 7500
