Painted Consoles

Trying to spice up the interior on "new" ride from the blah mustard color they call Savannah Beige. The console is starting to look 4yrs old so considering getting Eric to paint it. But how does it hold up - prone to scratch easy?

Is the texture/finish like that of a painted bumper? Just fearful that my not so careful wife will make a painted console look worse than it does right now. This is going to be her fun car and will take some interior abuse with watches, rings, phones, purses and shopping bags with the obligatory huge key chain hanging around there somewhere

So is it worth it?

Do what I am doing, paint all the plastic pieces a shade darker than the interior, it will be a nice contrast

I'd add some silver trim rings. Maybe change the faces of gauges to red, be careful not to break them, but would be hot with silver trim rings. Add a non-smoker option if you're painting the console if your wife doesn't smoke.

have changed gauge faces on previous 996 and was not happy with the outcome/look even though I used the best of the best. IMHO, there is no substitute for OEM in this case and I'm not buying a whole new cluster

I don't have a pic of red, but here's Savannah with Lapis Blue. I love what this does to the interior and it seems to be very durable. Couple coats of wax should protect pretty well except from real abuse.
