Installed 02 GT3 lip spoiler on OEM 996 C2 bumper
nice job!
have you ever thought about combining two aero lips together by flipping one upside down? Ive never seen the lip in person, but from the pics you may be able to do it? My friend combined 2 oem front lips for a golf and it looked pretty good.

Great details for the install of the lip. Looks good too. I'm in Florida and if not mistaken I think Suncoast Porsche is in Sarasota, Fl. I believe I purchased a used hard top from them recently. I just ordered a pair of dual exhaust tips for $200 (great price) and think this lip would add to the front. Not too much flare. It will be interesting how it does at high speeds.
You'll love it at high speeds. Made an immediate night and day difference when I had my stock basic bumper on. Just be sure and grab my parts list from page one of the DIY and follow steps on page 2, and you'll be all set. Do not use the plastic push fasteners for the lip, use the large screws and fender washers. fyi there may be a lead time on ordering the lip, I don't think it is a normally stocked item. You definitely want to buy it from a close-by dealer since shipping for the item can be expensive (it's an odd / long shape).

yeah thanks- I love the new bumper. I almost bought a Misha GTM wing today from a member in the for-sale section... turned out that it only fits 997 (per Misha).. bummer!!
i'm also still at odds with figuring out what type of wheels to get, has been driving me nuts. I think I'd like to stay 18" just for performance sake, but these stock 5-spokers just aren't doing it for me.

Fitted the GT3 cup chin spoiler on Friday. Followed the instructions from p0rsch3 (thanks) but it's pretty straight forward.
Car up on jack stands

I had to modify the ends of the lip to fit. I took a template of the existing curve and then just sawed and sanded aprox 2cm off the end.

Using some tape I positioned the centre hole as per original instructions. I then drilled 1 extra hole at either end so that I could use the existing torx screws to secure the lip.

Once these were secure a couple of self tapping pan head screws were used to hold the lip in place (drilled a small pilot hole). I did one in the centre and 1 aprox half way to either end, 3 in total. This then allowed me to grab the backing of the double sided tape and carefully peel back, sticking the lip and PU together. The remaining pilot holes were drilled and screws fixed.

The finished spoiler (tow bar to be removed)

It sits pretty low now and kind of worried about it. It's the speed bumps that are freaking me out...
Thanks again p0rsch3 for the inspiration and install instructions.

It does look great, you did a fine job. I've decided I can't do this after looking at your completed project. My car is lowered and even without the lip I scrape all the time, but I don't want to raise it. That lip wouldn't last a month. I going to get the Aero bumper.
Dervish- Really nice job man! Looks great. This has to be one of the best inexpensive mods for 996, as it is functional as well as visually pleasing. You will immediately notice a difference the next time you take the car over 90mph. Front end will feel more planted instead of feeling light.
Thanks for supplementing my DIY with your pics and information. Definitely will make it easier for others.
Deckman - I've beaten the crap out of mine and it still looks great. It is made out of a flexible PVC. The front edge gets frayed eventually from scraping, but a quick run over the edge with some 100 grit sand paper and it's as good as new.

Took her for a blast with 9 other 911s yesterday and she does feel more planted at the front, AND it looks great
