Anyone had their stock mufflers modified?

My dealer has an aftermarket parts salesman. That's all he does is talk people into spending gobs of money on thier toys. What a cool job. Anyway, I talked to him a little about the PSE exhaust. He suggested another option. They retain the stock mufflers when they install aftermarket ones at the dealer. They outsource the mufflers to a shop in town who opens them up and changes the baffles. You can pick how you want the mufflers sound and how loud they'll be. I asked about duplicating the PSE and he says it's entirely possible. He said it'll cost about $500 including installation. That's a bargain compared to most aftermarket stuff. What do you think?

Not a bad idea....I'd be interested in this as a source to mix things up a bit. I have been toying with the idea of a different exhaust...cause I am fickle! I don't think my fabspeed is too loud, but it is loosing some of the novelty. So if I say, change it out every couple of months...back to a modified stock say...this would work for me.

i had it done. i gutted the thing completely, over 2 years ago. sounds great. not as load as the PSE. slightly understated but classy and throaty. btw any muffler shop could do the mod for half the price. anyhow it's all about the sound and a freer flowing exhaust. anyway you go PSE, fabspeed techart gemballa ghl strosek, it's all the same shiznit. it's not like maping out the ECU or something.

To follow-up w/ eride996, I have heard his car, it sounds very close to the PSE. I would never have noticed the difference if Eric did not tell me.
It sounds very nice in person...throaty....

I have done to my muffler (Actually exchanging ) and add techart black tip. They send out to gut out (?) to make sounds better (louder and more heavy sound ) and performance better. I don't know how do they do it. Definately sound better than stock.

If you need help PM Eric(Eride996) for hook up

Good Luck!!

There is a distinct possibility that I might be the Salesman in question here. Regardless, I will extend that pricing to any member who is interested. I will send you the modified exhausts, you just return your cores to me. Thanks!

I am always willing to accept donations, kinda like Goodwill for car parts! I think that is a tax deduction too.
