Gents -

Well I heard a 'hmmm' noise coming from the front of my 99 996 so I looked at the radiator vents under the bumper cover and as you might expect there were leaves and cigarette butts and crap in there, I shop vac'd it out and tried the A/C again...originally thinking the leaves my have caused the noise...and the noise remained? So I called my mechanic and he said those are pretty darn reliable systems...I scheduled a time to bring it in. A couple days go by and I try it again (at night) and I smelt a dry electrical type smell and then saw smoke emitting from my driver's side headlight. Not a pleasant smell.

Any thoughts on what this might be...others had similar issues?

I appreciate your feedback!

I dont know for sure, but i think when the AC turns on, it turns on the electric fans, which are behind the radiators...maybe the fan motor went....Electrical burning sounds like an electric motor to me, so the fan motor would be my guess....it is under the headlight and would switch on when the AC was turned on....again just a guess.

Thank you

Newport - you were right...it was just a fused transister that blew behind the DS radiator.

Thanks for your feedback.
