Please Help with this 993
Fellow 6speeders I need advice / input on this 1997 993 C2S which I'm considering to purchase. Part of the ad reads:
"1997 Porsche Carrera 911 "S" Euro Spec with 18k Original Miles. Car is the only of it's kind in the world; a European model C2S imported into the U.S. in 2003 and never went to the California Emissions Lab but still has a clean, NON grey market, title and passes smog. There is also a TechArt front kit, Turbo S brake ducts, Halogen fog lamps, brand new 19 X 10 Porsche wheels with brand new tires (50 miles so far), clean carfax, Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche, 2008 Registration, and was just serviced yesterday with Mobile Fully Synthetic."

Priced @ $60k. Besides PPI, what should I be looking for / asking? What should I be aware of (if any). All suggestions / advice / input welcome. If this thread is better posted in the 993 forum then please someone advise how I can move it. Thanks in advance.

Nice car, but my concern would always be the emissions part of it. (I say that because lets say you get-the-car...........when it comes time to sell, the next potential buyer will always wanna know will it pass).
I'd feel better personally taking the car myself (for the $25) to a random inspection place of choice to have the emissions done.

Seems expensive to me. Otherwise it's a nice looking car. I would imagine that accurate records would be hard to get on this car. Maybe an explanation of how it "slipped past" the inspector is required.
Yeah and those are NOT Porsche wheels...I would be leary of those "Euro Spec" cars..is it a true "S" or one that was modded to look like an "S" since his "S" is in qoutes. Looks good, but I would be leary of any garage queen, especially a 993....

Here is a '97 C4S that has been forsale forever. I don't think he really wants to let it go and that is why he lists it for almost $60K, but he takes the time to re list it each week!

I will be gathering these useful feedbacks and get answers from the seller. Would a VIN help get more info about this car and run it through CARFAX? BTW, below is another pic of the car with different wheels - would they be the original p wheels? Thanks.
Those 18's are the original porsche wheels the 19's he's CLAIMING as Porsche wheels are ebay knockoffs.....

Its not a big deal, but when someone lists things like that which are either misleading or an outright lie, what else is misleading about the car....just say aftermarket 19" rims...not Porsche 19" rims....I mean is that a real Techart front, or a knockoff fiberglass Techart "Style" front. Is the mileage accurate or faked?...One question...does the Carfax show issues before it was imported? I mean if it was a salvage in Europe because of flood, theft, accident, etc...would it show in a US Carfax? One more issue, if there are Euro spec parts in the motor, when you need motor repairs will US parts fit and work as well, I know the Euro X51 heads for 996s are different use different engine parts....

Excellent point Newport, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt while I'm gathering all these useful info.
Daytrader, any chance you have that number or know where I can get it?
Redridge, is the 993 C2S the one with the split grille? Thanks all.
