Buying. I need your feedback in order to make my decision.

Hello everyone:

I just found a 2000 c2 with 68000 miles on it. The car has some aftermarket rims that looks amazing with the porsche emblem center caps ( do not know if original ) It also has the oem GT3 kit. The car is silver with grey interior. They want $30,000 for the car.

The car drives good and looks good. The dealership is a reputable dealership. They will be doing a complete detail to the car tomorrow.

Question:
Should I worry about the car's reliability in terms of engine and drivetrain having in mind the high mileage?

Please feel free to give me feedback on this. After all, it is a 30 grands decision.

Thanks in advance.

I would have an Independent Porsche Shop or reputable Porsche Dealership conduct a PPI before any purchase. Saved me from buying a bad car before, it was worth every penny. In my honest opinion you can find a better deal, 30K with 68K miles I would say would be high 20s.

PPI are around $125, thats how much I paid for mine. Make sure you speak with the mechanic and he tells you exactly what he found and in details. Get him to document things as well, it would help a great deal to negotiate with the seller when you find little things here and there.

Sounds ok, but going into the winter months, you might be able to back him up some. I know up here in MI, sports car prices always start dropping after July 4th....

I bought a 2000 C2 with 68K miles on it for $30K -even- back in April. So far no problems with reliability *knock on wood*. I'm up to 72K miles....Get a PPI, and if everything turns out ok, bid $25K for the car.

Thanks.

I was thinking of something like $29K out the door? Or should I offer less?

$29K OTD would be a very very good deal. See if the motor has been replaced. Many of them have new engines in them.

Problems early on that were more apparent on 99s. It's worth looking into. I bought a 99 with 62K miles but it had the motor replaced at 40K. Made my decision even easier!
