sir i realy dont know how to use this SIGHT but i have a 2001 911 tt porsche with evoms 600 and water methanol injection and now a plenum . where do i do what you say "Hmm"AND WHAT. PLEASE ILUSTRATE ME
So this set-up no longer uses a gasket between the plenum and throttle body?

wow! what an answer sir. beautiful .well let me tell you,i had a hose disconected and now is running perfect. so plese read now what i did:i took the original plenum and a pice of round teflon with the same diameter than the plenum and i made the v shaped on the teflon with house tools, then i put screws on the teflon. well made. and used it . this worked fine the car pulls faster than before and i meshure this in races with other cars because we dont have a dyno for the 4 w. d.of the turbo but i beat other guys that just to beat me my car have an evoms 600 but wi

there is an o-ring on the plenum. if you look closely, there is a groove on the plenum where the o-ring goes. the picture does not have the o-ring on the new plenum.

well i just signed up for this forum after reading all the heated debate on this product and i have my 2 cents.
I bought a porsche, I am not rich. I worked my *** off for it.
I do not throw $100's of dollars into making it immeasurably faster. (butt dyno).
I did however pay to get the stock mufflers modded and cat bypass pipes. (butt dyno approves these mods).
IMO $800 is too much for me to spend for a couple tenths off my quarter mile time. Many of you argue whether it is worth the price, but if you race a couple tenths is worth the price. For me its not, ide rather have more sound. Now if the plenum was $450................................
and I agree with thoes of you who think $895 for a 22 HP flash is also ridiculous, but then those who race may want it.

huh? With that logic you are basically saying that all parts (good quality or bad) for the pcar are going to be expensive and we should just take it like a man? Not buying it. Some companies will try to push the "neiman marcus" style but it is not always the best idea.
It would, from a marketing and business angle, make more sense for the company who makes the intake to look at the actual cost to make one of the intakes (including packaging), look at how many have been sold and ascertain the profit. Assign that profit to the initial design expenses and then calculate a mark-up that is fair for them and more importantly they will begin selling more of them. That is as long as their manufacturing costs are low enough.
Think about it, better to sell 100@$1,000 or 500@$500? Customer acquisition is a mighty powerful thing...

plenum WELL OK make it
Take your plenum buy a round pice of nylon same diameter as your plenum and work it with a power tool untill you have a triangle with the back the same curve as your plastic plenum and you put screwes from the out side to hold it in the center of the plenum and you are going to have the same thing they sell for $1000.00 the exhaust i made in a mufler shop whith 3 1/2 tubing all the way back whith silencers made of staianless steel sheet metal and in the center i had 3 1/2 perforated metal with fiber glass arround them between the two tubes no catalitic converter they were very chip i made them in mexico lavor cheep and hand crafted of first class the turbos were 24/24 i made them 24/20 with a mitsubichi wheel and got the ecu tuned i am doing 2.7 bars whith water methanol ijection $299.00 in ebay which rises the gas to 116 octanes you can use and more small things like injectors and another fuel pump in tandem there is nobody on the track is faster than i ah and i forgot 100 hp more with nitrous oxide
which i never use because the car is so fast i dont have the need for it.

The Porsche tax is pretty easy to avoid if one has the fabrication equipment and experience to do the work. Otherwise, you are paying someone else for their knowledge, creativity and R&D work. I agree, at $450-500,I'd buy one of these plenums and not even consider building one. Cost per unit can't be over 50.00 after the initial research and casting is likely to be pretty darn pricey, so I don't fault them for trying to recover that and partially fund new development of parts. Of course, the big ROI would be selling the patent to Porsche...A plastic "Y" can't be any more expensive to build than a Plastic "T".
However, this isn't a $450 part. Since I have a TIG, a band saw, lathe and other metal fab equipment, I'll build my own plenum, net 95% of the increase of this plenum and be happy with the savings.
