Been there, done that, about to do it again. After selling my M Coupe for a more practical family/sports car, I decided on the C2 (just barely over a E39 M5). Now I realize that for the crappy road conditions down here, what I truly need is a CTT or even a CS would be more than enough, but the looks of the 03+ Range Rovers (Sport) is something that calls my attention. With regards to the M5, the clutch is weak on the car and maintenance bills are notorious (more so than our cars). If you have the space to have 2 cars (I don't), then the idea of getting a "beater SUV" is not that bad. Earlier Rovers are known for quality issues and reliability. Try something like a Land Cruiser instead.

good forum - I am also looking at a C4S, actually two, a 2003 and 2004. Both are being offered in the mid 50's range. Both are in excellent condition, below 30 k miles, etc. One is certified pre owned. One is being offered by the dealer, knows the previous owner, etc (but it is not the color I want) the other is by an ebay marketer...on consignment. I was able to see the ebay car in person and saw their version of the carfax. I have a couple of questions, one, the ebay car, the one I like the best, came to MN from a NJ dealer and was only here since July and the owner is flipping it already (it has been on the market for 3 months, they just dropped the price) - I am wondering if there is something dubious with this car and how I could find out. The passanger side air bag compartment is protruding about 1/8th inch and I can't help but wonder if it has been deployed in spite of a very clean carfax. How can you really know? Will the local dealer give you an honest assesment of the car if you are not buying it from him? On another subject...there are a lot of companies that sell extended warranties...who would, can you buy them from? I have owned a couple of Porshce's in the past, but always bought them new from the dealer...this is my first venture into the used car market and don't want to make a 50k mistake. I posted this on one other forum. Thought it might makes sense here, too. Thanks,
Tcarho

Well, I did it. I traded my C4S for an 05 Cayenne Turbo Blk/Blk

No regrets. I love the Pepper and am looking forward to the new mods.

BTW - I got $60K on the trade and paid $60K for the Turbo.

Pending Mods:
GIAC ECU upgrade
Porsche Silver Grill Insert
Porsche Side Skirts
EVO Intake
Lowering Module
Exhaust
22" Wheels <--looking
