997 Turbo European Delivery?

Has anyone done the European Delivery on the 997TT? How was it? What price did you get off sticker? Why do dealerships not like doing ED?

I tried searching this forum but didn't come up with anything. Any insight is appreciated.

Thanks,

Marcus

You can negotiate the sales price with the dealer, however this is about a $3k to $5k charge for it, depends on the price of the car. Check over on the rennlist board, there are many guys that have taken Euro GT3 delivery.

ED works great. I picked up two 993s at the factory in the 90s. Back then you actually got a slight discount plus the free insurance, factory tour, etc, and both times were really fantastic. Porsche seems to have cleverly figured out that people will pay to collect the car in Zuffenhausen and have an "experience", hence they now charge $4k or whatnot for it. With that in mind I passed for the new TT.

That's unfortunate. $4k plus the cost of airfare, hotel, gas, etc with the ****ty exchange rate will really set you back. Oh well.

i would highly recommend ED, even with the associated costs

i was under the impression that the actual price of the car would be a a bit lower thus negating the cost the dealer charges for ED? maybe im thinking of another marque like MB

Kevin,

I know the MB and BMW programs are great with nice discounts to boot. Unfortunately, BMWs just don't have much appeal to me and it doesn't look like Mercedes will be offering anything in the near future that will greatly interest me - unless they throw a set of turbos on the next E63 iteration...
