Audi R8 Or 997 Turbo Need Replies....
Audi is Audi !!!
I had Porsche Turbo(tip), best car, I think better then my F430...
my friend got the R8 few weeks ago, his going to sell the car, he paid $30k over, but nobody want to pay that much for Audi, soon it's going at stiker !!! because R10 is coming next year...
and R8 looks like little bigger TT...
please please keep the turbo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agreed, you are on THE forum for THE ULTIMATE Porsche.....
I too have seen this Audi in the flesh, and heard it as well....I liked the LED lights....but no rear seats!! HA! so the 997tt for me simply because we can (and I dont know why or when) transport 4 people in our cars!!!!!!!

If you want to turn heads, get the R8 in the right color. It truly looks exotic next to the 997.
I've seen a couple R8's in person. I got to sit in one of them. The whole package is much nicer than the TT. The interior is fantastic. Not to mention the clear engine compartment cover looks bad ***. If the power deficit was resolved, it would be a no brainer.
With regards to depreciation, I don't think any water cooled porsche owners should even go there
Have you guys looked at 996TT prices lately? You can get NA 996's for mid to low 20's now.

I wont even consider trading in my Turbo for a R8...But dont get me wrong the AUDI is won bad ****...But PORSCHE will spank it any way you look at it. I mean PORSCHE are all over the racing scene AUDI R8 just came out.
R8
Buy the R8. TT are a dime a dozen, no porsche owner should talk about depreciation and resale, they suck in this regard.
TT performance wasted on the street, R8 better looking, more exotic, plus it's a free ride for the next year. Try selling a TT after a few months.
You can pick up a TT all day long. You'd be crazy to pass on an R8 at msrp. Drive it for a while, flip it for over cost, pick a TT slightly used, pocket 50K.

The performance issues are known by all of us regarding the R8 and the 997TT. The GT3 out accelerates the R8 and out handles it on a road course. We know the TT in a straight line will out perform the GT3.
The R8 with the present engine can not compete.
When the Lambo V10 gets put in then it will be competitive with similar cars (Gallardo and F430) for presumably for less money.
Now I was told about about an aftermarket future potential. A tuner friend told me that APR has plans to develop a twin turbo package for the R8 to generate 1000 bhp and compete with the Bugatti Veyron. Price tag of approx. 50K. Presumably done with the V10 motor.
This sounds very much "pie in the sky" but time will tell. This needs suspension, tranny/clutch and drivetrain upgrades.
Interesting future guys,
