Order a Turbo now or wait...

I have a choice to make. Order a Turbo now, April build, June delivery or wait a little longer for the '09. Rumor has it 505hp with DFI and DSG for '09 cars which may arrive in fall '08. I've seen the pics of the facelift for '09, not crazy about the shape of the tail lights but not the end of the world either, of course those are just spy shots and who knows if that's what the car will actually look like. So while the hp increase is not a huge difference, although who would turn down extra 25hp when given the choice, the facelift doesn't seem to be revolutionary which is a good thing, the DSG could be a big plus for those who either drive the tip cars or looking to switch from manuals and try the new technology. My dealer who seems to be in tune with all the developments doubts that DSG will have steering wheel shift paddles and seems to think it will likely be accomplished with the gear shift lever +/-. There is also that factor of the potential bugs with the new cars. While I'd like to think that I may own the car for quite a few years and resale value is not a primary concern, the past has proven me wrong quite a few times already with many other cars, I had my GT3 for a month and I sold it, so of course the newer car will be more desirable for resale value.... My dealer said he will discount the '08 Turbo nicely but will not discount the new ones as they arrive as to quote him "everybody and their grandmother will want one". Tough decision. What do you guys think?

Depends on what you are getting the turbo for, everything you say is in the rumor mill so it could go either way, but really it boils down to purpose. Since you already got a GT3 you definitely have something really fun to play with, and if you want the TT in Tip/DSG then its definitely worth waiting a few months to see if it comes out with the 09.

Personally though I wouldnt wait, but thats just me.

He already sold the gt3. I'd get the TT now(order one), you can always bail/push back your order towards the end if the DSG thing looks like the best thing since sliced bread.

there may be no turbo for 2009, due to model change from 997 to 998 for MY2009, and it will start with based coupe and S, and turbo is the last to be updated.

THERE IS NO 998!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not yet anyway : )

example - 99-01 was a 996 and 02-05(certain models C4S,Turbo, GT3, GT2, Targa) were also 996s

I wouldnt expect anything 998(if they even call it that) until 2011!
