Clutch job question

Anyone have their clutch replaced yet?

I'm being told that the motor has to be totally dropped on the 997T...is this true? The job sounds pretty big and I'm trying to get a feel for how much the work should be approx.

My clutch is slipping pretty badly now so I know I have to do it sooner than later.

I"m looking at EVOMS Stage 2 and 3. I don't think I need Stage 4. If I upgrade, do I give up the "softness" of the factory clutch feel?

Regardless of what condition your clutch is in now, I'd recommend getting a new clutch kit to properly handle the power.

You most likely will end up with a clutch stiffer than factory [though I don't see that as a bad thing].

I don't know whether the wear on the clutch was due to lack of proper use, or a defect on Porsche's part. If it's a result of the former, I'd suggest finding someone who is fairly competent [can downshift and upshift without any jerking and very little if any clutch slipping] at driving manual.

The slipping came from, from what I believe, the Proto upgraded VTGs and increase of power.

Shark Werks replaced mine with a Sachs Stage II. Have about 100 city shifting miles on it and it really feels/grabs nicely.

I have a clutch that will drive normal but will hold the power you are making. The motor DOES NOT have to come out. Not at all. Worse case it is a 8 hour job. No more than that.

We've taken a few AWD transmissions out without dropping the motor, so the motor does not need to be taken out, to do this job.
