With great new competition like the GT-R coming out @ $75K, Ferrari's, corvettes, M-cars and AMG cars burning up the roads, is it time for a definitive new platform for Porsche's "classic 911"?

What about a $120K version of a Carrera GT? Mid engine, 3100lbs, 550hp+ TT?

As we all know the rear engine configuration obviously isn't the best for overall performance, but it's what gives the 911 character.

And the car the OP described may not be impossible, though close, especially at that price.

The GT-R isn't competition, not because it's an unworthy car, rather even if they were close in price, you either like one or the other.

Thanks.

no I do not believe it is time for a new platform. because then it wouldn't be a 911 anymore. I'm sure all of us have pondered how can Porsche squeeze any more horse power out of a flat 6. but just when you think they're tapped out, they bring more hp in!

I say let them do what they do best and we should just sit back and enjoy the ride. Porsche is definetly a car company that does not disappoint.
