Does the PCA do any track events??

I've been with the BMW club (BMWCCA) for a couple of years now and they always have events going on. Between the San Diego, Los Angeles and Golden Gate chapters, there is usually something every few weeks or at least once a month.

Is PCA completely lacking or am I not looking in the right spots for events? I was out at California Speedway a couple months ago with BMW and I'm heading to Laguna Seca with them in 2 weeks.

It sure would be nice to have the porsche on the track with out porsches! instead I am forced beat up on M3's and the occasional M5 or M6.

after looking at the calendar for the entire U.S., I think I am correct. there are a few events across the entire U.S., but none of them are at the track! (not including auto-x and club races) kinda pathetic.

The Arizona club is on Firebird or Phoenix International Raceway ususally about once a month.

Our local club has about 6-8 DE events a year (compressed into the months with reasonable weather). You might have better luck looking at the local Porsche Club chapter schedules. I can't believe there's not a ton of track days on the left coast.

Yes PCA does track events.

www.pca.ocr.org is the local chapter they have auto x and a "time trial" series that goes on at El Toro and Street of Wllow Springs

Another option is the POC which runs club racing and STS series. Sounds like you would be doing the STS series. Club racing requires a cage.

You can also come out to the track and do one of our track days. We usually do Big Willow , Buttonwillow, and Pahrump.
Its limited to 25 cars and there is a ton of track time.

Our next event is the first weekend of February @ Pahrump.

Since you are in SoCal feel free to give me a call or stop by the shop and I will gladly help you out and recommend some events.

Here are a few pictures from one of our events at Big Willow

We also do some class room instruction so you arent just thrown out on the track.

We welcome every driver from Novice to advanced.

What you need to do is see what your local region of the PCA offers. If you look at the national PCA calendar, you won't find what you are looking for. DE events are generally organized by local chapters. Our chapter holds a lot of DE events every year at various race tracks. Find out about your local chapter and then see what they have.

Avi8Tar-

(1) There are more than 250 Driver's Education events held by PCA each year across the US.

(2) If you want to do 'gentleman racing', PCA has club racing, with more than 25 races (Sprints, enduros, etc) in 2008 from coast-to-coast.

(3) On the west coast, the Porsche Racing Club runs great events - real racing, great write up in the last issue of Excellence magazine.

(4) There is the Prosche Owner's club events - mostly CA and FL.

(5) Than there are the commercial track-oriented events like TrackMasters and Car Guys - Chin Motorsports and TracQuest are the real class in this category IMHO.

(6) If you have money - you can join one of the many new private racing tracks / clubs across the US. The majority of these have been started by Porsche Owners - PM me if you want a list.

Bill Scott (owner of Summit Point Raceway) says - "the Porsche guys have the best drivers and instructors, but create the most carnage. BMW CCA
is like a walk in the park compared to them"!

There is so much more to move up to - SCCA, Grand-Am, ALMS!

Seat time, seat time, seat time...
