how to reset ECU?

I assume you just disconnect the negative terminal on the battery. can someone please verify this?

Why do you need to reset it? Do you have a CEL on ?

check engine light came on. its happened before when Ive been REALLY low on gas. happened again last night when I was nearly empty so I want to clear the fault with a full tank and see if it comes back on.

Yes, just undo it for an hr or two. You will also get a pasm/psm fail light, this will clear once you drive the car a few minutes. Keep in mind undoing the battery sets off all kinds of fault codes, ultimately the dealer will have to clear all the codes permanently.

Yes, you disconnect the neg and let it sit for a minute or two. The sure way to drain all the remaining voltage from the computer is to disconnect both the pos and neg cables and touch the cables themselves together. This will cause any stored voltage to go to ground. it only take a couple of seconds that way. Good luck

well, it worked and no more CEL. I have the codes permanently cleared at my next service. thanks!

I have no idea but do you still have your car ? I was hoping that you kept it because it was so nicely optioned .
