CAR Magazine: 911 vs GTR
Z07. What's the point of this 'colony' crap? You're having a good battle with a couple of people here and everyone is giving as good as they get, you're all adults and can give and take to each other. But starting a general US slagging off is just pathetic and frankly makes you look immature. Nobody so far has taken an anti-UK stance when arguing with you.
I'm from the UK and get totally p*ssed off with the constant US bashing that goes on in this country, please leave it out of this thread.

The Jensen Interceptor FF was the first production car to use AWD, traction control and ABS. Guess who made that?

Oh I agree. The argument was never about forcing people to buy GTRs at gun-point. It was merely to get heavychevy to sod off from our forum and accept what Nissan has achieved.
Oh come on! It's hardly fair to compare an R34 to a 996. The R34 was still crippled by the 280ps limit. Yes, it produced more than that, but they had to stay ball park. "Go figure"? The 996 had a bigger engine and ran more boost. Interestingly, the 997 still runs more boost than the GTR - 1.0bar vs 0.7bar for the GTR. That's why I laugh when I hear people talking about trading tyres for seconds. How about you take 150kg out of the GTR by removing non-essentials, up the boost to 1.0bar etc.? See where your tyres get you then.
The fact is simple. The GT-R is a great mechanical machine but no mater what Nissan does it will not triumph over the history of porsche.. Mainly as the nissan name is not symbolic to racing as the porsche name is.
Keep living in the past old man. I hope you enjoy being history. I intend to move forward with the times.

I am a new member here, been a lurker for sometime and friend of some older members, and I honestly finally joined because of this thread.
I cannot believe the amount of sheer hatred and disrespect in this thread amongst all of you guys who claim to be CAR enthusiasts. Key word there being CAR. Not a specific brand or a specific model, but the entity as a whole. The level of brand loyalty has moved beyond loyalty to sheer snow blindness...get over yourselves and the materials that you buy...it is about a common interest, not a divisive one.
With that I would like to say a few things,
The GT-R is an amazing vehicle and for all intents and purposes (obviously underrated in hp) has beat a 997. This is a fact, and will stand as such. Not only that it is now lapping with a GT3 and when more conclusive tests come out, I would bet that it will prevail. Those of you making arguments that the driver was crappy in the videos, I would agree, but that means he was crappy in the GT-R too, but as stated, it is a much easier car to operate like a monster and it might have done better. I will hold out final judgments until the Stig has a run with it and really puts it into perspective.
That being said, what is the big deal?? Cars have been eclipsing each other since the day they were made. Innovations are to be expected and desired...or else we'd all still be driving Model Ts...there is no reason to get so worked up when something unexpected arises.
I hate to lump in all the P-car owners, so I wont, but some of you are snobbish beyond all belief. God forbid your precious 997TT has been knocked off the top spot (which it was there self prescribed amongst the other hypercars which clearly outclass it in one respect or another). Yes it has been beaten by a Nissan, made by some 'Japs' as some of you apparently still living in the WWII era so eloquently put it. Get over it. Its done, its fantastic, embrace it, hope that it will spur Porsche to make something even better to set the bar even higher...before the oil runs out anyways or we're forced to run on cod fish oil.
Third, I find it ridiculous that people argue about which car is better right on the limits of performance which I am willing to bet 99% of the owners out there wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole. NONE OF YOU ARE WALTER ROHRL, few of you can approach the kinds of things that these cars are capable of doing, yet you all will argue to the death about them. Frankly speaking, this is absurd. I'm not saying don't discuss the cars and their prospective achievements, thats exactly what makes being part of such an car enthusiast group amazing. But these insulting battles are juvenile and presumptuous at best.
Heavychevy, you clearly seem to think you know it all, but I guarantee you would have a different tact face to face with any of these people. I will admit I know nothing about you, but you sure seem to come off as insecure as hell about the future of your beloved Porsche just because the GT-R has come out guns blazing. Lots of claims you make are opinion and emotionally charged banter that is insulting and counter productive to a worthwhile discussion. We get that you are a Porsche owner and think incredibly highly of yourself for being such, get over yourself.
Me_qwkr, again, I know nothing about you, but for someone who knows so much about the GTR heritage, you can't even spell their renowned traction system right, which makes me wonder how much of what you claim isn't nonsense. And while the system in the Skylines may be similar to the SDP system (I wonder if you know what that acronym is without looking it up, no one will know, don't worry) of the 959 or even inspired by it, it is pretty, for lack of a better word, wrong, to use the word derived. But again, who knows, I may be less informed than I think I am.
Anyways, I am done ranting. This could thread could have provided a lot of good discussion about the merits of the cars, but turned into a mess of insults and hate. I may be brand new to this particular board and over stepping my bounds, but I would advise those of you who I am describing in this thread to grow up and learn to accept change and intelligently discuss it instead of acting like 4 year olds and throwing hissy fits.
Have a good day/night.

I agree on most points. But I've read other treads that Z07 posts on. He attacks everyone that tries to explain their choices. To be so agressive on this forum is uncalled for. And I still can't believe he hasn't been banned yet.

I honestly know very little about him. I didn't mean to endorse his positions or anything he said. I was simply stating things about the members I noted for being abrasive without reason.
To me everyone has there own delievery system. Some people way is attacking other is passive. But to me (I am sorry I don't want to come off as an ***), you just side with heavychevy because he got a alot of post and you are just looking to double team on someone.
