Help Pls: What Do You Use for Exter. Spot Cleaner?

Every few days my fairly light color car (red) would accumulate these multiple little black dots, about 1 mm or so in diameter, around the exhaust area and behind front wheels. I would assume it's either oil or tar. I use P21S Total Auto Wash which works great but does require a lot of back and forth scrubbing. I also used Turtle Wax Bug & Tar Remover but that doesn't work nearly as well. Any recommendation please? Thanks in advance.

Check out the whole line of Zaino products. They are the best in the industry. I have used them for years and they have never let me down. I have tried everything. Zaino is simply the best.

Rejex the beast. That's what I do on my Guards Red...works like a charm...and yes, we carry it. What are you putting on your tires?

I use 3M adhesive remover which works great in removing those black exhaust soot particles. I get the same thing on mine.

I would advise AGAINST using Rejex on the paint. It doesn't "shine" as well as carnuba wax or anything else for that matter. It's good for wheels and other things but not exterior paint.

Thanks. I've been to the web site; didn't see any cleaner. Which exact product do you mean please? http://www.zainostore.com/Merchant2/...ory_Code=Zaino

These are VERY tough to clean tiny little black particles that are more around the exhaust area, but also seen elsewhere on lower parts of car bodies. As mentioned, I've used P21S, which is a (well known) powerful cleaner, and am having to scrub back and forth too much. I am looking for something that's better, more powerful and paint/ clear coat/ plastic safe.

Hello Eric,

If you are thinking tire dresser, no, I've used it in the past but not currently. These are more like soot particles from the exhaust and/or residual petroleum products that the car's tires "kick up" from the road.

I do have Rejax, but have so far only applied them to the wheels. Do you use them on the whole car?

Yes, that's exactly what I am talking about! So tough to clean. Do you mean this? http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3...glP6P3KR33VGbl

I'll give this a try. Have you used P21S before? Is this more powerful than P21S? Do I need to be careful applying this on any part of car, as far as paint/clear coat/plastic are concerned? Thanks again.

Thanks. Simple Green has a bunch of products, http://www.simplegreen.com/products_family.php , which one do you use please? What ratio of dilution do you use?

My concern is they sound extremely powerful. Almost too strong to be clear coat safe?

For a relatively quick fix, start out with the Meguiars Scratch X. It has a strong cleaner coupled with a super slick lubricant that lifts most stains, blemishes, etc. right off and it is completely clear coat safe. Follow the instructions on the bottle. Here is a link.

Then use the Zaino Z6. It will finish off any cleaning and also enhance the color of your car. Here is a link:

You may also like the Zaino Clear Seal product. It may help prevent these stains from embedding in the future.

Finally, I suggest getting a complete Zaino kit. Dawn wash and clay bar the car, then wash with Zaino Z8 carwash, then apply the Zaino polish (there are a couple of kinds - one with swirl remover and one without - make the choice that best meets your needs), then the Z6 as a finishing spray. Then use the Z6 as needed to keep the car looking like you just polished it. You will have the cleanest car you have ever imagined. It will astonish you. Here is a link to the entire kit I suggested.

I am not affiliated with Zaino in any way. I am just a very satisfied customer. I have tried EVERYTHING under the sun for detailing and Zaino is my favorite. The only downside is that it is not a particularly quick fix. To do it right (for example, dawn wash, clay bar, Z5, Z6, Clear Seal), you need to set aside 3-5 hours. But then you don't need to do it again for several months (unlike a carnuba wax that is gone after just a few weeks).

If you have any other specific detail questions, let me know.

Good luck.

I meant this one:

I have used P21S before but I don't think it's really good at keeping the black soot off. The 3M cleaner is safe for paint and does a great job of effectively removing the black soot without too much rubbing. Comes off rather easily. I'd wash it off afterwards because it has a strong smell.

A solvent based wax will work really well. If you have a wax that seperates after sitting over time, then it most likely has solvents in it. Also smell the product. The reason for a solvent wax is that it cleans as you apply. The solvent also creates a low flash point, and the wax hazes very quickly.

I'd try a clay bar first.

Scratch-X works pretty well on that kind of stuff too.

Barrister,

Wow, thanks for taking the time to post all the URL's. I have Meguiars Scratch X and didn't think to use it because it is a polisher & scratch remover and as such I thought I shouldn't use it that often since it works by thinning the top layer? Your thoughts? TIA.

I have Scratch-X and it works VERY well but I also use Zymol HD-Clease, pre-wax cleaner which does a great job of removing/hiding light scratches too.
