AWE 700 kit installation teaser
The larger TB requires specific software from GIAC. That file is complete for the larger VTG turbo kit we have produced.
We will be working with them to write a file for the stock VTG turbos, and will sell the adapter/TB/software as an add on kit for the stock VTG turbos.
However, we will most likely not be selling the adapter/TB/software as an add on kit for the larger VTG turbos. The software for the larger VTG turbos is specific to the hardware found in our kit, so you would need to swap out more parts to make it work.

I wish it were as simple as that.

Dear friends at AWE, no matter how you spin it, youve copied some ones design im sure youve done your homework, and are fully aware, of what is coming

997 IPD Turbo Plenum Response
Happy St. Patty’s Day 6 Speeders,<o></o>
<o></o>
With all due respect to AWE and eclou. We here at RSS and IPD are flattered by the new design of the AWE plenum but unfortunately it looks exactly like one of our early prototypes. AWE is great company with some great products and they deserve the reputation they've earned being a leader in the industry but this plenum looks a little too familiar.<o></o><o></o>
It seems like only yesterday that everybody refused to believe the performance gains provided by the IPD plenum. So many members adamantly proclaimed the IPD plenum as “Snake Oil” and “Smoke and Mirrors”. After extensive dyno testing and evaluating by qualified 6 Speed members and sponsors the plenum has not only survived it’s baptism by fire but has been widely accepted by the Porsche community as a whole, including Porsche dealerships around the world. <o></o><o></o>
Well as always, “Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery”. Our years of hard work and dedication to the IPD intake plenum are being copied and imitated, even by shops who were strong opponents of the IPD plenum from the very beginning. All of our efforts in designing and developing the unique IPD plenum have enabled us to achieve a patent on the design of the Porsche Intake Plenum. <o></o><o></o>
Many people have attempted to copy the IPD plenum only to be met with strong legal opposition. The attached patent below outlines the terms and conditions of the IPD plenum. Unfortunately we have had to go down this road before and are prepared to defend our efforts and investment to any lengths necessary.<o></o><o></o>
Most people have no idea of the extent of the development and testing process that goes into each of the plenum applications. There are countless prototypes and endless hours of dyno testing before we invest in our cast aluminum plenums. Many people have attempted to copy, but have never duplicated the IPD plenum. Our published power gains have been substantiated by multiple board members and the 997 Turbo is turning out to be one of the best IPD plenums to date, as can be seen in the dyno graph below, definitely more than 5 or 6 hp. Don’t accept imitations or counterfeit versions of the IPD plenum.<o></o>
Thanks to everyone for their continued support of the IPD plenum.

Interesting comment.
Could you point me in the direction of a similar product to what we are doing here?
Forget the word "plenum". The part referred to previously in this thread as a "plenum" is in reality an adapter for the larger throttle body we use.
We do not intend to sell this adapter as an individual item.
Therefore, the product in question here is a larger throttle body/adapter/software package, which to this date I have not seen anybody offer for the 997TT.
Greg, you need to read my previous post closer:
the results simply are not there for us to sell this part alone.
As a seller/installer of many of these I have to say I've seen _more_ than 5hp on dyno runs and that's on the NA ones. The TT ones have always worked well and I've seen anywhere from 15-24hp to the wheels at least on the 996TT. I've physically seen the 997TT one being dynod at EVOMS' facility as well and that came out to 23awhp.
I am afraid to mix and match but I already have some parts. I am not worried about reflashing the software to match the upgrade but .
I already have intake (Werks1)
I already have headers (evo)
I already have exhaust(Tubi
I already have intercoolers (Evo)
The plenum is in transit from IBD to my tuner
So ...Drumroll
Can I add the Turbo's with confidence of some type of reliability and peformance WITHOUT changing the entire setup.
Would I have to add a new clutch to hold the Hp?
Can this combination of parts be the one car which creates even more or less or different HP ?
Lastly -what parts would I need ?
And cost(you can PM me that if you wish).
Thanks

I thought the big benefit of the plenum was unlocking more torque and umph in lower RPMs, not so much overall whp gains?
First of all, BEAUTIFUL kit! I can't wait to see the car in person! Wednesday, right Eugene?
As for all the comments of "imitation", "copying", etc... Let me tell you guys something. The Supra tuner world has been around much longer than the 997 tuner world, and over time, eventually all the company's putting our kits for the Supra started looking VERYYYYYYYYYYY similar in design. That is the natural evolution in motorsports, over time the better designed and well reputed shops start putting out kits that look the same. Why? Because there are only so many ways to skin a cat (correctly). Over time, what will distinguish one tuner from the other will not be power, area under the curve, or snake oil...it will be CUSTOMER SERVICE and PUBLIC PRESENTATION. Those tuners that handle the public with courtesy, class and integrity will keep/get the business. Just my 0.02......I can't wait to see/ride in the car Eugene.
