AWE 700 kit installation teaser
AWE 700 kit installation teaser
Knocking it out this weekend, and so far very smooth. I learned my lesson from last time and soaked all the exhaust bolts with PB Blaster for 72 hours first. More than half way done and going to finish tomorrow. Here are some teaser pics

headers
bored throttle body
intake plenum
larger VTG turbos
intercoolers
silicone boost hoses
GIAC 700 software (pump + race)
The first 100 hp on the 997tt is relatively cheap, the second 100 hp takes a bit more hardware. The key is there should be no loss of everyday drivability, and sickening amounts of power.

I took your list and blackened what I do not have or what would have to be changed . I also underlined the arriving plenum I am getting this week.
Here's my questions :
1) Would this system be compatible with Werks1 Intake, Evo intercoolers , Evo headers , Tubi exhaust --OR
2) Would it require AWE kit only setup ?
3) If mixed and matched would HP be more , less, unknown ? Has it been tested ?
4) Cost ? (approx) to add the parts I don't have .No need to quote an exact price but simply whether this is an expensive upgrade for me at this point .
5) I look forward to a write up on how manageable the car is after making the jump.
In short --I just waant to feel like I can control this car .
6) No clutch upgrade ? You running a stock clutch?
Thanks in advance for any input.

Eugene,
1st, have you always had the techart-esq style tips with your AWE exhuast? I see in the background of pic 1 the AWE tips (the AWE tips are much better
)
2nd - The Intake Plenum you show... It does not appear to be an IPD. Is that an AWE part?
You know I like to copy what you do, but damn, I am not changing my turbos!!! I am going to order the AWE headers though. Very Cool. Looks amazing & best of Luck.

yyralis I think there is some flexibility in parts matching but the results may not be as predictable. You'd have to ask the guys at AWE.
Bill, the plenum is an AWE piece designed for a larger throttle body (also theirs). Changing the turbos is something I would not have considered except for the TX Mile. The power of the Stg 2 cars is already beyond usable on the street as is!

Is it me, or is everyone going around copying each others products?
It wasn't too long ago, that another company, which will remain nameless, copied IPD design of their plenums. I don't mean to accuse anyone, but its pretty easy to see whats going on here. Is this just the way things are done, or does this cross into patent infringement?
I have an IPD plenum installed on my car, and I feel that there is a reason that they dominate the intake plenum market.

During development of this kit, we ran into numerous power roadblocks, causing us to experiment with different areas of the powertrain. Given that plenums were a current and popular item, we decided to mock one up and see what, if any, gains it might produce in a quest to reach our 700 crank hp mark. Unfortunately, the results of a plenum alone were hardly significant in our testing, repeatably showing only a 5-6 whp gain.
We then experimented with larger throttle bodies. However, the factory plenum did not allow us to bolt on a larger throttle body, as the bolt pattern was different. The factory plenum that went with this larger throttle body (it is from another Porsche model) would not mate up to the 997TT intake components, so we were forced to make some sort of adapter to actually mate the throttle body to this engine. The larger throttle body once mated to this engine really unlocked the power we were seeking. However, GIAC also had to rewrite the software to fully mate this throttle body to the car.
So, you may see what looks like a plenum in the pictures above, but unless the larger throttle body with specific software is used like with our kit, we have found that the gains from the plenum alone are minimal according to our extensive testing.
We intend to release this adapter/tbody/software package as a stand alone performance upgrade in the future. FYI, our production adapter parts for this kit will be cast aluminum.
I hope that clarifies.
