Awesome article! Interesting the differences in power and suspension in the car's characteristics. I think your car would have done better on the track on some real track tires instead of the neutered Sport Cups. The R888's are good but Hoosiers would have been probably 2-4 seconds faster than the cups

jgood will become famous soon enough
Hi guys. I have an 07 with the same kit. Car is a tiptronic. 3rd & 4th gear pulls in 'sport' mode on the 'pump' tune shows a max of 17psi on the cars gauge.

Is this correct? The car does not feel that fast to me. Am I missing something here?

Thanks,

Jeff

Not making enough boost on AWE 750 kit

Hi guys. I have an 07 with the same kit. Car is a tiptronic. 3rd & 4th gear pulls in 'sport' mode on the 'pump' tune shows a max of 17psi on the cars gauge.

Also, I have never seen the arrow in the boost gauge, for the overboost period.

Thanks,

Jeff

Just be careful with awe headers on lowered cars. Mine have 2 clearance dents on them lol. Hasnt affected anything and my Porsche tech said it isnt awful since it's only the lowest tubes that have the dents. May replace down the line but nothing noticeable since I bought the car.

Exactly. I bought JNixon's car 3.5 years ago and they were flattened out. Opted for stock 997tt headers and raised the car on stock springs and shocks. I personally don't believe headers make a difference. I also opted for a Europipe exhaust which I love. I still have the old headers and exhaust that came with the car. The ones from the AWE 750R kit.

Were you worried about the headers having dentsand that's why you removed them? Also did the oem 997 headers keep same power level? You used 997 turbo headers I'm guessing?

Not sure what dentsand is, but, I was getting several codes 3.5 years ago and it appeared that one of the headers may have had a slight leak. They were also flattened probably by 50% on the longest tube. I was trying to diagnose the codes I was getting so eliminated the AWE headers for a pair of used 997tt ones.

Iv'e run the RACE mode only once while data logging. So as far as a loss of power I'm not sure.

What I know is this. Back in 2008-2009 I had a 996tt Protomotive 650 set up with stock headers. And J Nixon had this AWE 750R car. We are childhood friends and enjoyed visiting the drag strip a few times for grudge matches. The result was this white car would come off the line and shoot out of the hole faster than mine. I would expect that with the LSD it had and mine did not. I think I recall his times were what he posted earlier in the thread. Mid 11's trapping at high 120's maybe even 130 mph once or twice. His turbos would spool up fast and hit hard but then fall off.

Meanwhile, in my 996tt PE650 car, with the k24/18g hybrid turbos, my car would take a bit longer but then PULL all they way beyond redline. Our times were very similar I could just not beat him off the line. Where this white car did not perform well at all in my opinion was on HWY pulls starting at 60 MPH. I was always in race mode in the 996tt and if he was in Pump mode which should be 700, my car would pull hard on his. Even when he went into 750 race mode my car pulled on him.

That said, I figured they were set up for different purposes. I will say I like how hard the turbos hit initially, but I don't like how they seem to fall off up top. I did love my 996tt in that it just wanted to pull all the way beyond red line. I have thought about doing an E85 63.5 turbo set up but I'm not sure I have the patience for it. Perhaps just a water meth set up. It gets crazy hot and humid where I live and I'm sure it affects the car. This car is completely different when we have cooler weather.

I wanted to free up some cash which is why 3.5 years ago I sold a 11 Turbo S that I loved and J Nixon was selling this car so I went for it.
