Nissan already having to fix GTR flaws

motor mounts, steering rack bushings, differential having to be revised. This is in addition to the failing transmissions, and questionable block longevity.

I think their block was fine for the G35,37, Maxima, and 350Z cars. But to play in the supercar world, it won't cut it. IMO

The shifting in the Z06 is like molasses. And you cant make 6th gear usable no matter what you do, but it does fly around the corners as long as you're not on the gas.

I really like the Tuned Lotus 111R, that car is mega fast!
111R is really good car. I used that car to finish most of S-Class events. But some of them I used the Corvette and GTR.

Great post and article find!

So Nissan "tweaked" a few suspension mounts and coincidentally cut 9 seconds from their factory claimed 'Ring time

Typical...

More gorilla marketing for the masses. I guess they figured interest was dying down and they were getting called out on their BS. Here's another banana, folks

I wonder how much of that particular issue we will see with these cars...
It is Nissan's first go with a dual-clutch setup I believe??
Also as HC stated in another thread, the issue of needing to upgrade the stock system to handle increased power will probably be more of an issue than anyone thinks when compared to the R-34/33 which were relatively easily upgradeable to above 1000hp.

The tranny will be the biggest issue. As it is, Nissan and the mags are raising expectations in the market that this is a "giant-killer." Being that 99% of challenges will probably be street pulls, I think most GTR owners will be quite disappointed to find that the Z06's, the 997tt's, the Vipers are still noticeably faster on rolling runoffs, and that C6's, M5's, and Merc 63's are neck and neck. It would be easy to imagine disappointed owners quickly chipping the car and then shortly thereafter running into driveline issues, followed by warranty debacles. The issues will likely forced more "improvements" by the second or third model year, but may stain the image the same way the E46M3's grenading S54 did.

And by the time they make all the necessary improvements, you will have a $120,000 car with the inherent high maintenance costs. And it still won't be a Porsche.

Can you post links to all these cars with failed transmissions and blocks? Can't say I've spent much time looking, but the only mention of transmission wear I have seen so far is related to clutch wear in the heavily modified Amuse and MCR cars, both of which are said to be making at or over 600hp and 600tq.

http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/28/g...y-woes-at-mcr/

Honestly, a stock clutch of this sort wearing faster with a modded engine making 600hp/tq really shouldn't be a huge surprise. So how many clutch threads do we have here on 6-speed? How many Carrera GT owners with bone stock cars were replacing clutches within the the first 10K-15K miles? That article also said they revised the mounts to make them stiffer (probably too much driveline lash), it doesn’t say anything about failures. Maybe they do not want to run into this:

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...=126631&page=2

Looks like Porsche also upgraded their tranny mounts, they just waited for the 997 model to do it. And didn't Porsche offer X73 motor mount upgrades for the 996 too?

Anyway, I guess I just think it’s sort of funny to bash a car for growing pains during its very first model year (which EVERY manufacturer in this price range has) when the make we all love so much has had very similar issues. We even have a sticky in the 996 section regarding all of the 2nd gear popout issues, not to mention the rear main seal problems the early 996 cars had (and some 997's have as well).
