Nissan GT-R Superior?
Sorry but Alvis developed the first all-synchromesh gearbox but what does that mean? Nothing. Citroen developed helical gears. So?
They were one of the pioneers of AWD in high-performance sports cars (959).
But, those who purchase 911's made it clear they did not want a lot of gobbledygook between them and the road. They said the 959 had no soul. So, Porsche did not go the route of developing all sorts of electronic gizmos to help with driving.

Always one step forward and 2 steps back for poor old Porsche.

Oh yeah and Z07 speaking of POS's your GT-R seems to have something in common with what you think of the 911.
Enjoy your POS service.

Rumor 7: Estimated annual service costs for the GT-R are $10,000–$15,000.
Service costs for the GT-R will vary greatly depending on usage so we do not have an estimate of annual service costs. But these estimates seem very high, however. There are a series of Performance Optimization Services (POS) required for the GT-R. The Performance Optimization (POS) Services are inspections and adjustments (if needed) of three major vehicle performance systems: Engine settings, transmission settings, and wheel alignment. These services are required to keep the car functioning at optimal performance and are done free of charge for the first 36 months. These services are necessary to keep the warranty in full effect for these systems.
The first Performance Optimization (POS) Service is performed at 1000 miles. The subsequent (POS) services are performed at 12, 24, and 36 months. Additionally, it is recommended these services be continued annually beyond the first three years, but they will be at customer expense.

I really don't get this. One of you talks about pioneering and the other wants to remain in the dark ages. The Nissan ATTESA system was far more advanced then the 959 system and worked out the optimum F:R torque split for all driving conditions. Note however that this is only an optimum % split, it's still perfectly easy to overcook things. If the you have 500bhp and the most you can use is 50:200bhp (F:R), ATTESA works out the optimum split as 20:80%. Put your foot to the floor and you get 100:400 (F:R) - it ain't going to hold!
Always one step forward and 2 steps back for poor old Porsche.

BTW. In talking to a few local NIssan Dealer Principals, most are willing to cut loose the GTR at MSRP now. Apparently the demand for this car is not all there. Most of the fanboys can't even afford the $70k msrp.

Hey, someone asked sarcastically (I believe you) what was the badge about on that black GT-R. I simply answered with a few facts about the "Automobole Engineer of the Century". Then someone asked what that had to do with AWD, and I explained that Porsche was developing one for sports cars 21 years ago. Don't get your panties all bunched up.

Attention all Forum Members:
The GT-R has been cancelled. Nissan has realized that there has been a fatal error in the #3 ball bearings in the reverse transaxle drive of the flux capacitor. Hence, no GT-R will be produced and all comparisons and talk on this forum is now meaningless.
Please post all future responses on the appropriate GT-R forums.
Thank you for your understanding.

Note also that this is a slipping clutch. You'll find that's far different to and far cheaper than a failed gearbox. Amuse on the other hand are managing to run 1.25 bar without any problems by graduating the boost throughout the rev range. The V-Spec is also due to have a stronger gearbox.Shame the PDK can't even handle stock 997TT power yet. They tried but it went 'Kapplungen', hence its name. Would you care to comment on that?

You'll also find that the GTR system is called 'DCT'. The DSG belongs to one of your sister companies and is limited to 400Nm (295lbft). Care to comment on that?
