Hi All,

I will be doing the 550HP upgrade from RUF on my new 08 turbo, any experiences?

Also visited RUFcenter yesteday in Bahrain, CTR3, RT12. Very impressive see attached pics.

Keep in mind, 550HP is really 550HP. There's nothing special about 550HP whether or not it comes from Ruf, Sportec, Techart, or an American tuner. Contrary to populary belief on other forums, Ruf does not understate its HP ratings, and a Ruf 550HP package will NOT take a EVOMS GT[insert HP figure over 550 here]...hence, you are an extreme premium for their package.

That being said, what you DO get is a incredibly phenomenal service and integration. Your package will feel like it came from the Porsche factory...and it will have a 1 year warranty...something that no other tuner will provide. You will be adding value to your car if you plan to sell it. There is no other Porsche tuner that provides tuning in such a complete package from parts, to installation, to warranty and after service care.

Have you considered the 600 hp package?

If you search you will find a member who posted quite good 0-300 km/h times with his Ruf 997TT 600 hp. I think 0-300 km/h in ~30 secs.

Thank you all for the comments, 600 HP is 29,000 Euros compared to 10,000 Euros for the 550 HP, 2 years 30,000 Km warranty which ever comes first. Not a bad deal. It is a complete package as "bbywu" said.

OK,
Ruf upgrade, good quality, almost like it was done at a dealership.
How long does it take?
Locations where it can be done?
I assume about 18,000 us dollars for the 550hp package and 55,000 for the 600hp package.
Does it integrate with the sports chrono package in some way?

thanks!!

http://www.rufautocenter.com/conversions/997_Turbo.asp The conversion is done in the Ruf Auto Center in Dallas. Call Wayne or Hans there - they can give you more info than you'll be able to get here.

Hi Doc,

Well the car is back from Ruf, I drove it for a couple of spins, the power is impressive, I now see 1.2 bar all the time, chrono function is working nice and the exhaust sound is just right. full report very soon with pictures. Car still new, has only 120 Km's, it should sound and perform better once break-in period is over. Ruf gave 2 years warranty.

Did the following:

RUF 550 Conversion
Werks1 front carbon lip
GT2 side skirts
Chrono wart in Carbon from MaCarbon
GT3 Chrono Clock
HRE P40 Matt Black
Techart steering wheel in leather and carbon

On the way:

Carbon front grilles
Carbon mirror covers
Carbon OEM wing
Carbon tail pipes surrounds

First and foremost, thanks to VIVID racing for their prompt and professional services and excellent resources.

Thanks to RUF Bahrain.

and last but not least; Thanks to my dear friend Jan Gezici Techart Germany for his much appreciated help.

I have to apologize but during a lot of Autobahn testing I have experienced how a Techart 530hp 996TT is as fast as EVOMS 610hp 997TT. Or is 80hp something you do not notice?

I also doubt that EVOMS has THAT much superior ECU programming if they are able to squeeze out 610hp from stock 997TT VTG's while many European tuners have to change to modified turbos at about 550hp power lewels. These rated power differences (which are relatively small so no need to argue about this much ) are caused because of different dyno measurements. You can't compare a Dynojet or so to a MAHA dyno at all...the whole dyno procedure and the pull takes a lot more time and thus more heat and stress.

Still EVOMS is one of the best tuners because of the price and their 700hp kit should be awesome!!

Kaizu, I just haven't experienced what you have stated. I've read nearly every argument you've posted including: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ad.php?t=97479

Dyno numbers don't lie. I just can't believe EVOMS, AWE or any other US tuner is fudging data.

That's interesting.

I think you will have to start planning for the GTBoard.com event in August so we can compare more cars...
