This sounds both good and bad simultaneously .

The good -
Our cars just spiked in resale value

The bad -
If 2010 is the next Turbo it can;t have a long run before the redesign .

The 997 model line was lauched in August 04(as an 05 model) and by the time 2010 comes around this model line will be somewhat dated --especially with some of the competition upcoming.

Conclusion - This is the time to buy a used 07 997tt because once its confirmed that no 09 Turbo is a definite fact by Porsche it may become very expensive to get a used one .

Also --if the 2010 Turbo has the 3.8 wet sump block it will point even more towards a cost cutting effort leading into aredesign .

It's sad to think that this sucessful 997 legend could end this way . Perhaps a weak economy, rising gas price , and competing cars have thrown quite a curve ball . Only time will tell.

I can't see why my dealer would lie to me, I've bought cars from my salesman before when he was at another dealership. The dealer has a good reputation also, did they need my deposit that bad? Or maybe they just assume there will be an 09? Has Porsche ever skipped a model year Turbo before? if there isn't going to be an 09 I guess my search for an 07/08 continues. Anyway I guess I'll find out soon.

What am I missing....Why would they skip building cars for a year? In what business model does not making a product succeed?

Did you just say, "I can't see why my dealer would lie to me"? Just checking.. There was no '95 turbo, no 99-2000 turbo either.

Your dealer probably didn't lie to you, but they just may not know for sure yet and are assuming things. Or if that Edmunds story is true it says it will debut "early next year", if it comes out in early 2009 it may be called a 2010.

What I really want to know is if the 2009/10 or whatever they call the refreshed version will have the PDK gearbox.

Interestingly, I had a similar conversation today with my dealer ('08 TT on ship due to dock next week) and he hinted that there may not be a 2010 TT. He said that the '09 997's are being facelifted in the order that they were originally introduce which means no changes to the '09 TT. I guess that only time will tell.

Unfortunately, it sounds like the blind leading the blind . . .

I have my car and am happy as a clam with it. Just buy an 08 and start enjoying it already!

That's what I say too . It's never been a better time to buy an 08 or even a used 07 .

I don't think they "lied" . I do think they are in the business of selling cars and your 1K deposit shows a slight commitment which is better than nothing . Don't lose sleep or become upset over this . This can be a happy thing and perhaps you could get a car now or wait. You have plenty of choices .

Calm down guys....who says it might be 'a year' before it's out? I suspect we are going to see the next turbo very shortly, and it may show up here in the US in the spring (or sooner), but just maybe not in Sept/Oct of this year as the next '09 variant. Maybe they push this out 3-6 months to get it right. Maybe it's a redesign. Maybe it's the 998. Maybe....well, just wait til June. Really.
