Back in the game after 5 years
I made it back safely from Pittsburgh and without incident...the 300 mile trip was awesome! I'm not going to get into major detail with the comparison with the M6, because I think some very detailed comparisons have been posted here before (I think!)
The first very noticible difference is, the "non-luxury car" feel (obviously). I was very spoiled in the M6...super quiet cabin, super smooth ride, and *** kicking power, all in one. The Turbo cabin is much louder, the ride is much stiffer, but the power is much more *** kickin! The power difference is VERY noticible. I love the Turbo feel compared to the V10 power. I do miss the throaty exhaust note, but do love the way the turbo sounds.
The bottom line is, if you want a luxury cruiser with great power, go with one of the M's. If you want a raw supercar, with some nice interior gadgets and luxeries, get a Porsche. Definitely take a test drive first. I have no remorse whatsoever...I am extatic with my decision to go back into a P-car, and I can't stop grinning every time I sit in that thing! Absolutely incredible top to bottom, front to back!

I have recently spent a quite a bit if test drives in the new M3 . It would have been my second vehicle to my 997tt . After a lot of thought I am going to buy another Porsche after the facelift . The 997S will be driven by my girlfriend and i will have my 997tt . I felt that the stock 997tt was so quiet that it was even too quiet . Tubi exaust , Evoms headers, werks1 intake , and intercoolers later it really sounded the way I felt it ought to come right out of the box .
The M3 in comparison with even the 997S (which was what I was deciding between ) felt more like a sophisticated muscle car . The first test drive I liked it but with each new test drive I began to dislike the car. The gearbox was sloppy, the position of the shift **** awkward, the technology was thrilling at first and then became a nuisance . I didn't want to adjust settings and functions . By the time I made my mind up that i wasn;t going to buy the car I was comparing it to an overpriced mustang. What's even worse was the overall BMW customer service experience that i felt in sales and with previous BMW's in serrvice in my region.
The biggest comparison of the M car to the P car that I felt was that the BMW was brute force and the Porsche was finesse .
I wish you the best in bonding with your new car . It is a fantastic machine. Of course it's quite different than your last .
Welcome back to Porsche.
