If not, how does one measure as far as the reference points for front and rear? I already did my search and could not find a precise answer. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ride_height

Thanks in advance.

I usually measure center of wheel cap to fender when measuring the drop from aftermarket springs anyways.

This is the way I do it.

Wheels straight.
Equalize all tire pressures.
Find a very level area of concrete-garage floor, parking garage, etc.

Take a tape measure and measure as closely as possible, thru the center of the wheel, from the floor to the highest edge of each outside fender well just above each tire.

Write down the results for reference, LF, LR, RF, RR.

This should give you a good reference point for measuring any future lowering changes to your car, which is what I'll assume you're doing it for.

Hope this helps.

Thanks guys. Yes I have done what you suggest. I measured a GT2 against mines and the followings are what I got for mid fender measurement; they are so close that I think maybe there is another more accurate way. That is, a method that shows GT2 to be LOWER than Turbo as expected, since mid fender measurement doesn't seem to reflect the expected difference.

Turbo:
LF 67.6 RF 67.1
LR 69.0 RR 68.7

GT2 (was NOT on a level spot, this is the best I could do as it's not my car :-) )
LF 66.5 RF 67.2
LR 68 RR 69.5

I am hoping for some official/published data on the ride heights, mainly for academic interest, for example to use as reference against GT2's ride heights. I found some on 996 TT but so far have not been successful with 997 TT search.

Also found this btw: http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...33&postcount=2

The ride height is measured from a bolt on the suspension, front and rear, to the grade (GROUND or wheel/ground contact plane) at that bolt location. I believe that it must be measured on an alignment type of lift, from beneath the car. i will post the bolt location/s when I get a chance to speak to my car builder.

That would be great but then we need to find what the stock measured height on a turbo from that point is.....

True, technically, that is correct.
But you're also correct, which bolt?!

977TT thanks for measuring.. Going by your measurements my car is pretty close to your car height.. Does your TT feel bouncy compared to when it was stock?

Great looking rides...Love that silver and orange color combo...
