To GT2 or not to GT2?
I see from your previous cars that we have similar tastes... the 997 Turbo is like the Gallardo (also a former Gallardo owner), does everything effortlessly, scarily well. But it really takes very little talent to look good in the Turbo. The GT2 is a totally different animal. Totally different from the 996TT vs. GT2. The new GT2 is more refined, has quicker reactions, and is definitely a separate model from the Turbo (in more ways than the 996 variant was). Drive a GT2. I absolutely loved it and I think you will, too. That said, I'm just fine with my GT3 for now...
I dont know how far you've modded your 997TT, but you might consider taking it to an EVT700. Go sit in one if you can, I'm in N Cal if you'd like to set up a meet. The EVT700 gives you AWD performance. I've even gone as far as buying a 55 gallon drum of 100 Octaine so I can run the race program all the time, just need a min of 5 gallons in a tank to do that. There isnt much on the road that will keep up with you as smoothly and safely. And its a huge rush in acceleration, oh and its reliable too.
I'll second this from the other side of the map in Florida . The car is a beast . I had even considered the OEM Turbos from the Gt2 as an upgrade option but am gkad I chose this EVT700 .
Gt2 is a different car though . I've yet to see one , much less drive one . Simply put --you already have the 997tt and if you've modded it and want to take it to the next level it can be done without facing the depreciation and the markup to do it.

I see people mentioning MODDING the turbos.. Well I did the same, in every way to make up for the turbos shortcomings, you just have to add more and more. Meanwhile my GT2 isn't stock (but i'm also a nut) it keeps you content 100x more and in a different way the turbo could not. Usually when you have to mod the ***** off a car to enjoy it, it's time to move on or it's not for you.
Are you kidding me? No question GT2, I am waiting for one and wont look back. There is something special about a GT2, a modded Turbo 996 or 997 is nice , but it will never be a GT2.
i am lucky enough to have both. and all i can say is that the cars are a different as night and day.
the turbo is a very tame car and you are always on top of it when driving. with the gt2 it's different....it can snap....anytime.
when driving it, merely touching the gas pedal, the traction control light is on. not so in the planted turbo.
the gt2 pulls like mad...it just does not stop. especially in 2nd and 3rd gear.
where the gt2 requires you to be alert, the turbo is just smooth sailing..even with the pedal stepped on fully.
also the steering of the gt2 is just so much more nimble than the gt2. the mere hint at steering makes the gt2 jump.
it's really astonishing how two cars with the same body and more than less the same drivetrain can be such utterly different.
if the turbo is a juvenile then the gt2 is a serial killer...
go for it and you will not look back.

I have posted this in the past, but it pertained to 996 GT2s.
Do you ever read posts from GT2 owners who regretted their decisions to get a GT2? I can't recall ever seeing one, and that's for a reason. Those cars are absolutely special, and always a thrill to drive. Every time I got in mine over 3 years of ownership I had a smile on my face. It just did everything right, and it had the right amount of rawness. I recently drove a friend's 997 turbo, and while fun, not nearly as exhilarating. I guess that's why I still read GT2 posts and vicariously enjoy owners getting their new ones.

Intouch -
Are your 997tt and Gt2 both stock? I agree that the 997tt before mods is rather civilized but I also feel that Porsche chose that route keeping in mind that most drives are city drivers on pulblic roads . If doctors and CEO's were crashing Turbo's on their way to work at some point Porsche would face a dilema . The GT2 is all out exclusive track ready , lighter , faster , and ready to go BUT throw an EVT700 on a 997tt and that car is also brought to a different level . Have you ever had AWD leave rubber --I hadn't until now . Imagine a car with 200 more Hp yet covilized enough to sit in traffic and listen to music.
I'll concede that stock to stock --the Gt2 is everything you describe BUT with the cost of adding mods equivalent to the MSRP of astock Gt2 the 997tt can wrestle the Gt2 in some of the categories applicable to being a well rounded, daily driving, high hp --MONSTER .

Yup, stock and modified Turbos are also night and day! Once you put on a powerkit (even a stage II one) and upgrade the suspension then you end up with something that is very very special - a swiss army knife of a car!
A GT2 can't be that special as I know someone here in the UK that has already traded his in for a Scud. Personally the only other car I would be tempted to change my car for now would be a LP560-4 - but even as a straight swap (no price diff) then I would still think twice.
If you just want a 100% track car then yes it's a no brainer, you want a Scud or a GT2. However if you want to also do road trips then I would personally stick to a Turbo or an LP560-4.
