To GT2 or not to GT2?

I'm seriously thinking about swapping out of my TT at the end of this year and looking at the GT2 as a serious option. I'm interested to know peoples opinions on whether the difference in price is worth the extra cost. Is the GT2 really that much more special?

I would go for it as you've already modified your turbo, should you request more feel or track like setup get some coilovers and do the gt3 settings alignment that should do.

I would go for it if you can get one at or close to sticker. I was about to pull the trigger and pay the premium but thankfully I came to my senses.

I would think the GT2 is certainly worth it. Fastest production 911 ever, and laps the 'ring as fast as a Carrera GT. The stats are all out there, now you just need to decide if you want to pay, and if the GT2 suits your driving style and what you look for in a vehicle. Good luck with deciding!

(wish this was the decision I had to think about today, instead I have a stats test) haha

I think the problem is i came from a gallardo through to a TT. The gallardo is a great cross over car, its has looks sound, performance etc, and even reliability. I thought the TT would be a great car as well, and it is, BUT.... im finding the need to mod it more and more to make it more special. The gallardo on the other hand i just added a tubi and tinted the windows and was happy for 3 years. The TT ive changed the exhaust, wheels, and am considering lowering and new rear wing......

I love 911,s this is my 6th Porsche. I just think i need something edgier, more track orientated. GT3/GT3RS or GT2 seems to be the way to go. Its whether the GT2 is that much more special to justify the price.

jamesketchell, my thoughts exactly. The TT is a great car as is but it needs more to get that hard edge. If you are going to spend thousands upgrading the TT to give it that edge you would be better off spending up front and getting the GT2 or GT3RS. The thousands of dollars spent on mods adds nothing to the value of the TT and is basically money down the drain if or when you decide to sell. As a matter of fact if I were going to purchase a used Turbo I would want it bone stock. On the other hand the GT2 and RS are pretty much down right out of the box. If taken care of they will probably hold on to their value much better than the TT. For the same reason you stated I almost purchased a GT2 but I did purchase an RS. I am only a weekend driver and I wanted the edge. No way would I drive the TT, GT2 or 3 on a daily basis.

GT2 if you can get one at MSRP or close to it, you will like the suttle differences a GT2 will offer, the cache' of a limited car will also help you get back to that limited edition type feel of a Gallardo. Also the residual value of a GT2 is good just like it is on the prior GT2 or a Ferrari Stradale. That may help if you keep a car for 3yrs like you did the Gallardo.

I'd keep modding the Turbo to keep you happy and work your *** off to get on a list for a GT2 which you may not get for 1+yrs anyways. By the time your done modding the Turbo you'll be looking for a change and the GT2 may just be perfect for you.

impo from a tt to a gt2 is not worth the money difference, if u want to change get something that is totally different, a gallardo superleggera, an f430 scuderia or an r8. something that will give you a feeling that you are really driving a new car. or stick to your tt cuz u'll miss it if u sell it

I dont know how far you've modded your 997TT, but you might consider taking it to an EVT700. Go sit in one if you can, I'm in N Cal if you'd like to set up a meet. The EVT700 gives you AWD performance. I've even gone as far as buying a 55 gallon drum of 100 Octaine so I can run the race program all the time, just need a min of 5 gallons in a tank to do that. There isnt much on the road that will keep up with you as smoothly and safely. And its a huge rush in acceleration, oh and its reliable too.

If youre going to track it (a good amount), id vote yes, if not, the turbo is more usable on a day to day basic than a GT2.

If you want a more track-oriented car, you should go for the GT2 I think.

If you put leather seats in there, you have the comfort, but it's as fast as a Carrera GT on the ring...
