My SPI 750 project...
dk from what I have seen the tips are faster than the 6spd since there are fewer shifts. A stock tip will do a 60-130 run in 1 shift vs a stock 6spd that needs 2 shifts. I would think that would be the same for modded cars as well, especially if a modded tip could run 60-130 in 1 gear. My AWE 700 kit ran 60-130mph in 6.9s on the street, and should be able to better that time on a prepared track surface
Hey eclou! You have run 60~130 mph in 6.9sec. Do you know about what it would be 100~200km and 200~300km(124.3~186.5mph) for your car. Thank you for sharing!
200-300 was 17s but into a 35kph headwind (almost 90-100hp additional aero drag)
Thank you very much for your info that will help my friend to make decision. BTW is your car 6speed or Tip?
I haven't been able to keep up with the forums lately due to the development work and testing we've been doing along with our current build schedule. Quick summary on the project... we've put down over 600awhp consistently on a Mustang dyno, but as many of you know, the nature of the TIP's programming (DME and TCU) are somewhat limiting in how much power you can put through the trans. We've been playing with a few different strategies, but we don't want to get too aggressive and throw the trans out from under the car. So the last few days have been spent experimenting and evaluating those experiments to come up with a strategy to get best power to the ground in every gear without stressing the driveline too greatly. I'm very happy with the power on the dyno considering the additional loss that we see through the automatic vs. the 6 speed... I just wish we could have it all in every gear under aggressive acceleration. That's where the car is missing out right now. Once you're up in 4th, hold on... it's making up for lost time...
It makes you want to smack your head against the dyno monitor when you know you're making great power, but your acceleration times are still lacking. Luckily we're pretty stubborn, so we'll keep at it until we find the best solution!

Yes, thank you. We've been down this road with some of the Mercedes builds we've done in the past. Many lessons learned there... that's why we're treading lightly and methodically in order to retain the reliability of the package. High engine outputs are useless if you can't get it to the ground effectively and consistently. Thanks for the tip on the TIP though! (That was an ugly pun for sure.

All the best,
)All the best,
All the POWER in every gear...there is no otherway...
TCU which removed load (torgue) limit for the box is probably the answer but then the box wont last long...so it will need to be re-inforced...stonger clutch pack, oil pumps and so on...
There is a Speedshift TCU availible for MBs...works quite well...

We have some news from younger brother of Sledgehammer here as well...
Basically someone runned my car the track as well with moderate launch (not sure which RPMs) the car runned 11.21 at 131 in 1/4 on 19 wheels with mix of pump and MS109 fuel on Toyo tires...
May be Tym can tell us more but that what I know so far...He also has some vids of the car runing as well..hopefully he will post them soon...
Also car runned 0-60 in 3sec flat and 0-100 in 6.9 with moderate launch...60-130 still in high 7 but we think is due to TipS gearing at those speeds...simply won about 0.5 in acceleration times after lastest tuning...
Would love to see what my car run to 100 and to 200 and 300 kms...
Now I thinking to sell this car NOW since winter is coming here and I dont need it till next May...Need to get 2006 productions 997 TT that can be built during winter times, and then I would be able to improt it in 2009 as 3 year old car and save 50k om custom dutuies...if anyone intrested in my car ...PM ME...is has best VTG set up you can get I beleive
