My SPI 750 project...
I sincerely applaud all of the tuners for their staggering high hp tuning kits. However, if its a problem getting the tip tranny to handle 750hp at the crank why are the tuners trying to develop more hp PRIOR to building a better tip tranny (ie. a Swytzer 900hp "Sledgehammer" which I assume is only available in a 6 speed is an extraordinary amount of hp). It appears that nobody has their act together with regard to the tip tranny. Why is it that EVOMS for their 996TT 800-900 hp tip packages was able to develop a stronger transmission with a high stall speed torque converter, etc. ? Can't this be done now with the 997TT ? If not, why ? Will I need to wait another 2 years for a 900hp "Sledgehammer" tuning kit for my tip that comes with a tranny that can handle the extra hp ?
I just bought a 6 speed when I really wanted a Tip, just because I want to add a lot of power to the car, and no one is equipped to handle the Tip in high horsepower applications.

I thought 9FF offered beefed up Tippys?
How about an AMG transmission (like the one in the SLR), or some
of the very high end Mercedes tuners? Someone has been beefing up the Tips.

NOt selling it yet...thinking of it...like I mentioned before...I was planing to use this car this summer, unfortunately things went other way and it Authum here now, then winter, snow...so I wont be driving it till May 2009...If I important this car now (will take 1.5 months to arrive), then I will have to pay 60k+ customs as for car less then 3 year old...If I sell it and get 2007 997 TT but produced in 2006 then I can export it as 3 years old car at chaper customs duties...around 10k...so there is 50k on the table...obviously there is no point to waste those money as get 2006 car if I wont be driving this car anyways till Spring 2006...

Doesn't a company called Level 10 beef up tip's?
TipS is doest have any probs hadnling that power and can be re-inforced for higher HP application...in my case its not needed...we tested the trans and it seems to work OK...Sharkwerks 996 TT with 750 HP was runing fine with a lot of abuse on stock tranny...only after the went over this power level they had 9FF to re-inoforce it...and as I know only things they do is add extra oil pump, cooler and stronger clutch packs...thus can be done on 997 TT as well...
I was hoping to get this car in mid August or earlier...bought it in May 2008. thought there will be enough time to tune and enjoy the car here...
Yes Level Ten can do them as well probably...
The probs with TipS that with biige turbos the car will feel lazy around town in regular driving...
It will only be a matter of time. There will be a learning curve in finding out exactly what the weak points are and addressing them. Simply guessing at what the transmission may or may not need is foolish at best. I feel strongly, however, that there is a lot of potential in the TIP platform should someone want to pursue it strongly enough.

Not quite true...to get 2006 car to lower custom duties...it might be manual or TipS again...depends on the project we choose...
I am actually quite happy with outcome...Tym said with agressive launch 10s are doable...
I doubt that from dead stop simular powered 997 TT 6 speed manual will beat same power TipS I wish we could test..
