Email me anytime with questions.... eric@bumperplugs.com We've been working on a tweak to the overall function on the BT technology, and there are details I cannot post here, but we've made some major progress. There is an updated beta firmware from this effort, and we've tested it on a few cars in the past couple of weeks. Overall, moving in the right direction, and still seeing very few new issues, so we're hopeful this is nearly resolved. Again, email me anytime. Thanks.

Thanks Ray for the detailed and very helpful reply. It seems steering column would be the "cleanest" install as you don't even see the mic this way -- it's hidden inside the steering column?

they can hear me and I can hear them. No echo. crystal clear. But like I stated I had hassle with mine until we swapped out the mikes in both cars and both now work perfectly. Its as good as my bmw and that is a very good bluetooth.

I dont like the nav. for ipod on both tooki, dension and the rest of them. If you have a large song selection its a bit painful. But mainly I use play lists which makes it a lot less painful. Sound quality is amazing though.

I had porsche do my very first install and they messed it up a bit (albeit the guy admitted he didnt do much of these). I know someone who knows fiber optic stuff inside out at best buy and had them do it. worked perfectly first time on both cars. So I think it depends on the installer. The main problem with porsche is that they are not very good at tidying all the wires up etc and even left my head unit a bit loose. I wouldnt recommend doing it yourself unless you have a bit of time on your hands and know what your doing. One thing I would like to point out is that if you dont have a cd player you have to do something in the programming of the head unit to make it think you have a cd - I had porsche do that on one of my cars.

Thanks Eric. It's a matter of when, not if, that I will be installing this. My friend's Tookie does have a problem with the other side understanding him. The frustration with these units is when there is a problem, you don't know whether it's due to the unit (Tookie), the cell phone, or the installation.

Do you know of any problem with my ancient Palm 650/700 with the Dension? Is there a forum that I could visit to check?

OT OT OT OT

The shiny chrome look of the TURBO script emblem in the back of my car is bothering me more and more. I was just about to order the satin silver one on your web site until I notice the price, $49. I know I sound a little crazy here... but that's too inexpensive!

1. Seriously, is this the exact same as OEM emblem that you just re-painted?

2. If not, then is sending my chrome to you to re-finish an alternative?

3. Do they come off easily and how please?

Thanks again Eric.

Yes, we had a few reports of Palm 700's not acting right with Bluetooth functionality. Not sure if it's the Palm (suspected), but so far, all issues point to the phone hardware/software.

Satin Silver was a factory anomaly, and we bought all we could get. It was unusual, we have JUST a few. Worth every dime, but if you want to pay more, well sure!

Can't reuse emblems.

We can paint to any factory color, flat, satin or gloss. On the Order page anytime, for less than the factory option too. Easy on/off. Dental floss helps to remove, then buff off any residue. Apply new (self adhesive) and press for a minute. Done.

The emblem order is IN, sir! Sure it's but a piece of plastic, but it's Porsche plastic. I am still shocked at the price, but I ain't arguing.

As far as Blue Tooth, so no luck with Dension for Palm owner? Do you have another recommendation please? I already eliminate Tookie because in my friend's installation, the other side cannot hear him -- I don't know what the cause is and don't want to be the one trouble shooting.

Order will ship tomorrow on the emblem (thank you). Bluetooth? Best bet: ditch the Palm and go to Blackberry.

Thanks for the emblem; I almost ordered two since the price is so low for a Porsche thing . So just run dental floss at the edge of my current emblem to start getting it off? I plan to use mineral spirit or PS21 to get rid of the residual adhesive of the old one. Any problem with that?

Re. Palm, ouch, I was afraid you were going to say that. Do you remember off hand what the problems were please? (Is there a Dension forum?) I don't care for any fancy funtion like address book, etc., just want the very basic function of dialing a number and talk (I almost never receive a call on my cell.) I have the Palm for so long now and am not ready to switch phone just because of compatibility with Blue Tooth. Thanks again for your help.

Update Please

So I recently picked up a 1999 996 Cab and a 2004 CT. I was searching the boards for info on bluetooth for them both and found this thread which hasn't been commented on in quite some time. Maybe I should have posted this as a new thread but not really sure. Forgive the newby.

I was considering the Gateway500/BTA1500. Have things improved with the echo and microphone? I would hope that with technology like Jawbone's noise assassin it has.

I tried the Denison site to see if this is compatable with the 996 but the link to the compatability chart took me nowhere. Does anyone know?

Thanks for the help! Sorry if this brings back bad memories Eric

No bad memories at all, and email me anytime as I might miss a post here and there. The mic issue is long since resolved for the most part. Dension brought out both a new unit (last fall) and updated firmware based on some testing we did on two California cars.

One of the primary issues was the bose surround and its impact on the echo of the outbound call/mic. That's been resolved.

Another is now the built in adjustability of both mic sensitivity and volume (on the newer BTA units).

We have not had many complaints since the new BTA units hit the market in winter, and we have them in stock, and the price has dropped dramatically on them too.

So Mark (mully), email me with any specific questions, or feel free to order on our website (click order) anytime.

MTRX....if you bought from us, email me directly and let me see what I can do to assist.

Thanks.

Hi!

I had the Dension system (model number???, maybe the 500?) just installed in the car. The pickup microphone is where the windsheald hits the roof, near the a-pilar. The bluetooth box is on the drivers side left footspace and the plugs for the toys are in the central storage box.

I use a NOKIA, and the system seems to work fine. Then again I shout all the time when I am on the phone... =)
