dension bluetooth BTA1500 - Issues.

Anyone installed a dension bluetooth bta1500 into their porsche via the gateway 500?.

I have put this now into two cars - I located the microphone in the steering column of my TT and near the interior light in the middle of my cayenne. (So I know its not a location problem).

The problems I am getting are two fold:

1. Microphone pickup is useless. So unless I am shouting at the top of my voice - no one can ear me ?. is this a software issue or a microphone problem ?. Is there another microphone I could use ?.
2. Echo. Unless I have the speakers on the lowest volume possible (which means I can hardly ear anyone) - the person who called me gets a terrible echo.

Like I have stated though - its not a microphone position issue - since I have one of them in the recommended location. Both have the exact same issues irrespective of location.

It makes the BTA1500 not much use at all - I cannot believe that dension have released such a lack luster product.

Any advise would be much appreciated. Because whatever is going on is not good at all.

I have also emailed dension - and of course - no response in 5 days.

I am using an iphone.

As I've said in 2 other threads, I have the same issues with the mic at the same location in a 997TT.

Hopefully this will be fixed with a software update and/or a new mic.

are you using an iphone ?. just wondering if type of phone effects this ?. Do you also have issues navigating the address book ?. and have you tried the config menu (switching the switch on the aux 3 times) - I cannot get mine into +select - it takes it - but when I go back in - says +paging.

Right now the unit I have is completely useless as far as bluetooth goes.

The product was tested for three months, is feature packed, and works very well on most installations we've seen/heard. Hardly lackluster. Feature rich, works for most, and for the price, impossible to beat.

Echo is a known issue now, and they are working on a firmware update diligently. We have been in touch with corporate R&D and they've been on it for a couple of weeks. May take a couple more.

Dome lamp is the BEST location for the mic so far. A-pillar or steering column seems to be worse.

Just give Dension a bit of time to resolve the echo, as it is not happening on all, just some, and they are working on it. They are an R&D company, so they'll get this resolved.

Patience, it's coming.

You should have enough length to bring the mic cable through the firewall, up the a-pillar and over to the dome lamp. Or you can always get an extension to bring the entire unit up to the interior cabin (extension cable on our order page), if you prefer.

Got to disagree with you on this one Eric. I cannot see how it was tested adequately in the porsche. Not only do I have severe echo - the microphone pickup is non existent (so they need to fix that too) - the party at the other end of the phone cannot hardly ear me unless I put my mouth to the mike itself and shout (kind of difficult in the cayenne since its installed at the dome light).

It seems its happening on a few TT installs (see other postings on this). But what worries me here is that my cayenne (install at the dome light) is doing exactly the same thing. Also two different installers installed into my TT and Cayenne. This is probably a microphone equipment problem or a setting you cannot change via the UI.

So right now, it is lack luster (and I was being kind :-)) - coz its a bluetooth that is not operational by any stretch of the imagination. Also - dension has not responded to my support request in over 8 days. - thats not good in its own right.

Keep me posted on this coz believe me I need it to work.

Has anyone tried another mike ?

Behind the glove compartment in my cayenne and behind the head unit in my TT. To put it in the trunk - some of the wires are not long enough (cayenne). I assume you can get extended wires though. But if you put it in the trunk of the TT - you will probably have to go through the firewall or something.

Ray, if you cannot give the mfr enough time to try to duplicate and resolve, remove it and send it back.

WE are not the manufacturer, but I can assure you this is underway with Dension and has been for weeks.

The beta units did NOT echo, and in fact, over half the units we've shipped have no echo.

PLEASE give Dension enough time to figure it all out, it will likely be resolved soon. No one (us or Dension) is turning a deaf ear on this.

AND if you, or anyone, has issues, PLEASE report them to me directly via email so we can create a separate ticket for anyone with problems, and attempt to resolve promptly.

I think Eric is doing everything he can do on his end. I've had(have) problems with my GW500 denison unit, I've come to the conclusion that denison's technology just can't mesh up well with Porsche headunits. This is a global issue with aftermarket units, not just denison, in reading all the posts on the topic. Denison is probably the least buggy of the lot, but they all have bugs.

Hey Chris, thanks. Can you recall when the last unit was sent up to you to test? I may want to send you another one to swap and try again.

Agreed - I will give time. My frustration is not at eric its at dension. But you have to understand - this is not just the average bug - its something that renders my bluetooth inoperable. I can understand bugs but this is something completely different. Akin to buying a TV and it wont show a picture vs a problem with selecting a menu item or something.

I'm wondering what BT system to go with. I keep hearing of people having problems with the Dension and Mobridge stuff.
